The cracking of the sky
Last breath,death of a million fireflies
They kept lonely streets semi-coated in light
Perhaps blinding faith- said it'll all be alright
The dream is not deferred, it's dead and buried
Bloodied nails coating the coffin the fireflies carried
In death there's a life, but that only leads to dissonance
Like only clouded minds can find deliverance


A Lost Toast to God

The darkness, an attribute thief, it won't flee
No matter the chorus-coating pleas
Insomnia drowned the midnights-
Maybe he'll never respond
Another father who doesn't give a damn about what he spawned
Typical adolescent, another unforgiven
But when the holy words are something you've never heard
Well, that's a given

From Nothing

Marched into the early April rains
May the summer settle the pains
Each rain drop a fallen love letter
A certain type of pleasure, or maybe something better
But by the time they hit the ground
All the same failures, who alone never made a sound
But as a combined, endless, breathing host
Sometimes those who did the least will soon do the most

A certain sunshine, a chilled air
It didn't bite the skin, meekly danced
As if trying to appease the sole chosen heir
A couple friends, not too many - too many glanced
Chuckles and bad jokes, little toasts to nothing
It always lurks in simplicity, makes it into something
The setting sun in the distance, a violet-crimson embrace-
A frown


The Gaze of Daedalus [A Reprieve]

A worn band and a newly-Wed's finger; the marriage
Of a stained gun and a baby carriage
The bloodshed against blue eyes and a matching sky
Lets a match to the sky, if only Icarus could fly
Against a thousand blazing sunsets
Charred hope, calling out, "Is life done yet?"
No ignited passions, no love before the madness
But at least it gives a purpose, that hope lies in malice
We're all looking for something to die for
'Cause we know we won't find something to live for
