Hello everyone,
having just seen True Detective, I was enamoured mostly be the beautiful Louisiana landscapes.
To familiarise myself a bit better with the US of A before I come over there for a year, I resolved to watch one telly series for every state.
Here's what I already got:
- Joker: The Simpsons - New York: Seinfeld (NYC) - Louisiana: True Detective (various) - Washington: Frasier (Seattle) - Illinois: Prison Break Season 1 - New Mexico: Breaking Bad (Albu... quirky?) - Columbia: House of Cards (Washington D. C.) - Nebraska: South Park (South Park, fictional) - Indiana: Parks and Recreation (Pawnee, fictional) - California: Workaholics (Rancho Cucamonga, fictional) - Florida: Dexter (Miami) - Pennsylvania: The Office (Scranton)
Can you help me fill out the other 80%?
I'm moving to Stanford, California in October, so presumably I won't make it through forty more series by then.
Cheers bitches!

another for (N.) California, Sons of Anarchy (I actually think I recognize places half the time).
A quick google search turned up several maps with TV shows for each state too..

Love that you chose Dexter for Florida!

I've seen that map, but I don't want to see the most popular show of every state. I don't want to see Jersey Shore, nor Bonanza. I want to combine TL show recommendations with broadening my understanding of American culture.
I can add:
- Minnesota: Fargo (Duluth)

South Park is set in Colorado, not Nebraska! You could watch That 70's Show for Wisconsin!

The maps I saw rightly recommended The Supranos for N.J.
Here's two maps that provide some choice as well as a base for discussion... http://mentalfloss.com/article/55492/most-popular-tv-show-set-each-state

Sopranos, I've been meaning to see that for years now!
I think I'm going to replace Frasier with Twin Peaks, since the latter shows much more of the actual state than Frasier does.

idk if this one´s correct but 24 is in Los Angeles?
|
New Jersey: The Sopranos
Alaska: Whatever reality television show that has Sarah Palin... Hawaii: Hawaii 5-0

The Wire is set in Baltimore lol

Ah pardon my ignorance. I haven't seen it yet and I always think Chicago when I see burning trash cans.
But that's good news. I'm pretty sure Prison Break is in Chicago, which covers Illinois, and now I've covered Maryland, too.

If you're missing any other states, they can probably be found in one of the million CSI or Real Housewives series.
|
Georgia: The Walking Dead
They show a lot of the landscape.

hey i grew up in rancho cucamonga; it was quite a rural area when i lived there so keep in mind that a lot of the buildings and development are crazy recent.
some of the shopping centers and buisness parks used to be farmland or fields lol
|
North Dakota: Fargo Connecticut: Gilmore Girls? lol idk i live in CT there is nothing here. Virginia/DC: NCIS
|
|
Portland: Portlandia
Edit: for beautiful cinematics of the open west you can't get much better than Lonesome Dove. One of the best Western shows ever made easily.

If you're using Seinfeld as your expectations for New York City, you're going to be disappointed lmao.
Watch The Vampire Diaries or the 2010 season of 16 and Pregnant if you want to see West Virginia. The X-Files only covers so much in that regard.
