Well during these last couple of days (reading week at my university so I have a week off) I had been thinking about where I want to go with this team, setting its goals for the future and ironing out the brand for the team.
I think it be fitting that the name of the team be "Impact e-Sports". Why you ask? Well for many reasons I obviously want to make a major impact on the e-Sports community. This is where I want to foster a career. I had actually been discussing the naming process with my friends to get an outside opinion. They actually hated the idea of having e-Sports in the name of the team. I however disagreed with this notion. My thought process behind this part of the naming, is it puts the team in the open about what it actually represents. Naming it something like "Impact Gaming" or just "Impact" both of which they suggested, could confuse new people who are just hearing about the team. First impressions always make a difference and in this day in age lots of web based consumers don't want to read about a company and what it represents unless they are genuinely interested (hence the TL:DR).
Now for the other half of this blog, the goals. Goals is what will definitely define me as a manager and CEO and will ultimately set the team apart from others. Goals is something that shouldn't be taken lightly and having a clear direction of what you want out of your team and staff is very important. Being dodgy and constantly changing goals, wants, needs etc. from the team just makes you appear shady and inexperienced.
The first and only goal that I have fleshed at the moment, is sharing which titles this team will represent. As of now I have decided for to branch out into two Blizzard titles. Starcraft II and Heroes of the Storm. Starcraft for obvious reasons. I have grown up with Starcraft II, it is the one game I know and as it stands I'm at a skill level where I can seriously consider myself a member of the SC2 roster and develop my skill further, as the team develops. Heroes of the Storm is a pretty obvious choice here as its a fresh new e-Sport title which means, new opportunities to build your brand and for new teams to make an Impact on the scene.
Lastly I do want to clarify that I am still currently playing for another SCII team, "Imperative Gaming" and as it stands I will be representing them until everything with this team is fleshed out and I feel I can take on its full responsibility, which won't be for a long time. These guys are a great bunch and I want to represent them as long as I possibly can.
Thanks for reading thus far and many more blogs to come!
