revalence123 United States102 Posts October 12 2014 14:03 GMT #1 After my last post I had a upper diamond friend of mine help me zero in some of the things that are holding me back. My macro is solid for gold league, I still need to work on constant scv production, etc, but I found I have one major problem that is really hard for me to fix. Getting a solid build order. I know there are a lot of build orders and I learned at least three, but I just can't make my self do them. I want to do ravine and a siege drop, but I just end up getting to the reaper then expand and that's where it just goes to shit. I don't know why it is hard for me to just do a freaking build order I just can't seem to keep it together. I guess it's just a mental block since I have played Hots since May and haven't even had the reaper expand part until two weeks ago. Its really starting to bug me and i'm not really sure how to beat it. This isn't just games, it does happen to me in school, work, things like that and I just have a really hard time beating, what I assume is, my own stubbornness.

EsportsJohn United States4883 Posts October 12 2014 15:20 GMT #2 My suggestion is to just take it one step at a time. Physically write down the build order on a sticky note or in notepad and place it next to SC2 so you can see it. Then load up a game against a Very Easy AI and do the build perfectly, pausing in between each step. Literally do not touch your units and focus only on getting the right benchmarks; drop your APM as much as possible and only do what's necessary. Repeat ~5 times every time you play before ladder. Naturally, it becomes a lot harder once you have an opponent and have to micro and do decision making and stuff, but the idea is to get the build so ingrained through practice against the computer that everything becomes automatic and you can think more during the game.
