I'm a student at the University of Maastricht, the Netherlands. As the final thesis for my studies in Media Culture I'm writing an academic paper on the impact(s) that live streaming and Twitch.tv have had on game culture(s) in the past few years.
I'm looking for people who are currently streaming SC2 related video content on Twitch.tv, or that have previous experience from streaming. The purpose is to interview streamers for about 30-45 minutes regarding their streaming and gaming activities, and to question if streaming has directly or indirectly promoted a form of 'professionalization' of video gaming.
In specific, the idea is that while people stream their gaming activities, players have not only become professionalized producers of digital media (as opposed to consumers), but also that by live streaming their game-play, players have been able to turn their gaming (commonly seen as a waste of time and energy) into an actual job. In this sense, the kind of professionalization of gaming that can be witnessed in the case of eSports has been used as a reference point (...just to give you an idea what I'm talking about).
Thus far I've been able to interview names such as RotterdaM and Winter for my research paper, alongside with few others, but I'm still especially looking for people who are in the process of becoming well-established SC2 live streamers.
So, if you're a streamer and you feel like contributing, then drop me a note here and I'll contact you with further details. Apart from that, I can say that the interviews will be done through Skype audio-calls, and the discussions will also be recorded for transcription purposes. You may remain anonymous. The results of the research will not be published in any other context than in my research paper. What will be the end-result of that paper, it's simply too early to say anything yet...
