Finally done with my first full year of college. Finished my last chemistry final exam about 45 minutes ago, got home, and laid on my bed, feeling incredibly relieved for the first time in awhile. I have 3 months of no stress or worry about schoolwork. Ended off most of my classes with high marks except for Oceanography. I'm still wondering I even took that course.
Unfortunately, or fortunately, I'll be taking my Pharmacy Technician Certification Exam next Thursday, so I'm not entirely done studying, but hopefully, I'll be able to pass, become licensed, and apply at a pharmacy to get a job and get some more job experience. As for whether I'll try and go into pharmacy school is up in the air, as I've been hearing lots of negative feedback on doing so because of the saturated job market. Tsk, hopefully, it'll clear up, all for me. I dunno if I studied enough or overstudied. Friends told me to mainly focus on the math portions of it, others told me they changed the tests a couple of years ago so that a significant amount is about the Top 200 drugs, so I memorized all 200 drugs, worked on (probably) several hundred pharmacy math problems, memorized conversions, laws, and medical lingo.
Got some sweet Starcraft: Brood War stuff about to start in about 2 weeks or so, so if you guys felt like reading through the entire blog, then feel free to check it out!
Anyways, I'm tired, probably going to play some Brood War and relax, eat some fried food and feel fat, and take a nice rest...
Oh, and if you want, tune in for the Crimson Starleague Highlights cast at Thursday, May 08 2:00pm GMT (GMT+00:00)! It'll just be some select games that were interesting/funny/stupidly hilarious that I'll be casting, so again, if you wanna check out some Brood War, feel free to watch!

I'm taking the PTCE too! I still haven't signed up for a time since I've been busy with exams, but I'll probably take it before the end of the month. I heard that it shouldn't be very hard to at least pass, which is a nice change of pace from having to do your best on other exams. The pay for certified pharmacy techs isn't bad too, especially compared to some other entry-level medical work like scribing.

So why did you decide to take oceanography?

O.o A brother's friend is a scribe at a local hospital here and from what I know, he's not getting paid, and considers it like an internship. He's about a year removed from graduating with his undergrad degree, and wanted to take a year to pad his resume for med school, but guess it's not all fun and games. I hope it's not THAT hard to pass, I've been studying this more than any other subject (even for school courses) and it'd be depressing to see if I end up failing and wasting $130. And yeah, here in Texas, the starting wage for Pharm Techs are $15/hour, much better than the $9/hour I used to get working at retail.

I think I took it to try and beef up my GPA and since it offered 3 credit hours and I was short some hours to be considered a full-time student. Regret it pretty hardcore now, if anything, worsened my GPA. Final grade ended up being a 66, which is a D+ here, but at least I still get credit... >.>

Good stuff to hear. Certified pharmacy techs start at around $14-15/hr up here as well though I heard the certification exam wasn't too bad to write. I'm sure you'll be fine. You've got the motivation. Just go in, do your best and write the next blog about passing it!

I might be over-thinking it, but I'd be crushed to find out to know I didn't pass after all the time and effort I've committed into this, not to mention the money invested.

I told you. Enough leg-kicks, and school will go down.

My scribe friends make about minimum wage at their jobs, so it isn't much. One friend even makes more at his on-campus testing center job. Certified pharm tech jobs seem more lucrative in comparison. Considering how hard you're working towards the exam, I'm sure you'll pass. I've heard of people cramming in two days with no prior experience and still passing.

Focus on the major stuff that will be tested and I'm sure you can pass. Don't go in with such a negative mindset, it won't help you lol.

I wish I was in your position to be able to go to Brazil, that'd be the greatest experience. Was hoping to either go to Brazil or at least South Korea, but money and time just makes it impossible... Hope you have a fun time though! :D
Yuh, I liked the Crimson hype music you made, so I'll be sure to listen to this when I have the time.

Being a Pharm Tech seem great right now, but hesitant to actually keep pursuing the pharmacy field. Hoping the experience will help me stay motivated and active in the field to graduate as a pharmacist :D

I've definitely been getting more and more confident as I get closer to the date. While taking practice tests, I've gone from about a 66 when I first started, and now I've gotten an 88 and a 90 the last two I took. The crappy thing about the test is that though there's a 100 questions, they null 10 questions, and you're required to get 75% right out of the 90 questions that count to pass.

Hopefully, if I pass the PTCE, get a job, get some money saved up to pay off loans and what have you, I can start hosting tourney with an actual prize pool to get more people to be motivated to play of all skill level.

See? you're improving bit by bit, that's what counts. Next thing you know, you'll say you got 100 on a practice test lol. The math questions are likely the same with just different numbers so if you know how to do one, you can easily do the same on the test etc... Anyways, good luck!
