The AFPL will start up along with round 2 of Proleague, that is, the 23rd of February.
The drafting of teams
The drafting of teams will be done through a randomly seeded draft. To those participating, me and Grovbolle talked about this today, and we think the best process would be to have a skype chat some time doing the whole draft. What do you think? How should we do it?
The last captain The AFPL still needs one more captain! We have 7 great people already, but the eighth spot is still open. First come, first served.
This sounds like a lot of fun, when are you planning on doing the skype call to draft? On or around the 23rd? If I'm free for that I'd be totally in for this.

The date (and method) for drafting has not been decided.
Edit: By method I mean the practicalities of picking and communicating etc.
How about you just use an RNG to give us numbers 1-8 for priority in team name selection, since it's only cosmetic and very much inconsequential.
Then, use another round of RNG to generate 1-8 for us. The turn for picks goes like this: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, 1, 2, 3, 4,5, 6, 7, 8 so on and so forth.
Also, we need to decide the total number of players on a team. I think 8 should be a good number because we will only use 4-5 a week anyway.

Since I agreed it's inconsequntial, I used RNG to assign teams already. They're on the liquipedia page.

That is the plan, indeed.

I discussed this some with Grovbolle today, and we though 6 players per team would be good. I'm open to having more players on, though. There are slightly more than 80 players in the pool, but I don't see why all of them have to be on teams.
I would suggest doing the draft via skype during the time before the 23rd. This is how I imagine it working:
1. All captains are invited into a private chat by me. 2. The random seeding is done and made public. 3. A list of the order of all player picks is made public on the liquipedia page, for easy reference. 4. The first player in line makes his/her pick. 5. I record the pick. 6. Move on down the list of player picks. 7. Repeat stages 4-6.
The deadline for it all is the 22nd (conveniently enough the same day that I do two examinations), and I think we should be done by then, even if everyone involved only checks the chat once a day.
So to proceed everyone involved needs to PM me their skype details!
