DiaBoLuS Top 16 Foreigner Ranking__________________________________________________________________________________ So... I decided to start my foreigner rankings again! If you dont know what i refer to, check out my old blogs. Changes+ Show Spoiler +
What has changed?
- This is now purely my own subjective ranking once again and not influenced by aligulac.com
- Now only Top16, not Top30
- It now includes chinese and taiwanese players, mostly due to their international performances.
- Votes for every individual player
- No more reddit backlinking
- new design
- still no reasoning as of why I ranked the players that way. Will discuss in the thread if questions come up.
Main reason for the changes is that the old version was way more time consuming. This is supposed to be a fun little thing I do every month that you may or may not read / enjoy, not something i spend almost a day on in the first place.

Why rank Lucifron so high after recent sub-par performances?

Naniwa and Scarlett are just too good for foreigners. Performance diffference between place 3 to ~30 is smaller than from 2th to 3rd place. It's like in football league after 30 playdays the 3rd has one point more than 30th place.

looks good, but the sen is so hard to rate T.T
giving him a top position is the right choice tho

Jim is pretty good. Just went 2-3 vs Soulkey at WCG. Gap between 2 and 3 probably isn't that big but after that then it starts to spread out (pretty hard to gauge Sen)

I find this ranking more accurate than the previous ones. The only complaint would be that Snute is maybe a bit too high. He didn't make any significant performance recently (besides winning ZOTACs).

man, grubby sucks at this game... He shouldn't even be in top 50.. Idra is probably better than him despite his "retirement"

I thought TLO would be ranked hier. He had quite a few top 8 finishes no ?

I like the polls, over half of them are saying that people should be ranked lower, but only two of them say that someone deserves to be moved up...

Definitely have to move Elfi up, Grubby and Lucifron down.
MacSed maybe even higher than #8.

haha, that is the problem you usually have making those.
As of why Lucifron is ranked higher than elfi... well. its really hard to explain with results honestly. I hope Lucifron will do me right on this one at Northcon this week, since they are in the same group. I'm simply convinced that he is the better player.
One cannot forgot that he comes from the #3 Forigner position and already lost 7, while elfi comes from way down.
VortiX performs as one of the best foreigners every time he enters a tournament - i think his rank is deserved. you could switch him with happy, i think both of them are in the same category, clearly below naniwa/scarlett, but def. better than the rest (after snutes and lucifrons recent performances).
The reason why i finally ranked vortix over happy is weird - it was thorzains stream. He said "i dont know who the best foreigner is right now - its a tossup between naniwa, scarlett and VORTIX." That gave me to think. He ranked happy one level below vortix when thinking about foreigners.
Snute might have had a bad performance at RedBullBG, but one cannot forget that he is the last player to acutally win tournaments against top level koreans (hsc). He also won RedBullTG a bit more recently. After that, it went a bit more silent around him, before training with CJ Entus for a month and then losing hard at RedBullBG - vs top korean players though. Underrating Snute for that one performance would be a hard mistake to make therefore. He will show he is at least on the vortix/happy level soon enough.
Jim and Sen deserve their spots. They are always said to be very good and able to compete against koreans, and they proved it just this weekend. I'm not so sure about MacSed. I know him from wc3 times and its hard for me to rank him over players that were better than him in this game after seeing so little. In some games i saw, he looked just as strong as Jim, in others, he underperormed heavily (due to lag?)
Will have to see more of him in the future.
As of Votes, it seems you want Grubby and TLO to be ranked higher. TLO had a pretty good run recently and is probably ok to be moved up - the thing is that i didnt have him in my top 16 before his run anymore, since he had pretty bad results before that.
I also know that both players are the biggest fan favorites probably, so i have to take that into consideration when seeing the votes as well.
Will see what next month gives.

Yeah polls just look like fan favorites getting boosted to me. TLO and Grubby haven't really shown any reason recently why they should be any higher.

I know, I´m pretty late this time, but I just wanted to compliment you, everything on the top looks pretty accurate. I disagree with a few places further down though, I would put elfi and Hasu above Grubby and TLO.
