still mixing thing, i decided i would a fan art of Bastion, i had an idea i wanted to draw and also it helped that the original art of the game was really good and cartoonish in a way i like. while drawing i learned some obvious and basic things that for now on i should always consider

1. is not a sin to use reference
2. plan your space because if you dont you will have a lot of white in your paper
3. drawing a place or scenery use a lot of perspective, i need to work on that too

Nice to see some pictures

I recommend not being afraid to use dark shades. Perhaps it would be very good for you to draw only with charcoal in order to get used to using very dark contrasts. Also, try to be very diligent with your strokes and do not use an eraser too much. You should rarely use an eraser when you first start out, because it's all too easy use it as a crutch.

It's sort of like playing SC:BW as a kid trying to beat the campaign. You fail so you try out cheats. Then you feel bad because you can't beat any scenarios without cheating. Don't cheat with the eraser

I talked to an architecture professor at my old college once. The architecture students had a big art gallery of drawings set up, and they were spectacular. He told me that one of the things he teaches his new students who want to do architecture, but don't know how to draw, is this:

instead of drawing the shapes of things as lines, look at the difference in darkness and light. Where the light hits, it is lighter, and in the shadow's it's darker. So he said just zoom in on a small piece of something, and then shade it until it looks the right shade of brightness.
Please PM me with any songs you like that you think I haven't heard before!

Another tip off the eraser analogy is that every line that is a mess up isn't actually a mess up it's just a new thing you have to work in your piece. My cousins and I used to play this game in church where we would scribble a couple lines or a shape on a piece of paper and the other person would have to turn it into something. It was good practice.

Dont draw with your wrist, draw with your shoulder. its the first tip every single youtube/ professional artist will tell you. makes your drawings flow.

Yeah that's true too. It makes sense because the shoulder is a bigger joint than the elbow, wrist, and finger knuckles. So When you move the same distance with the shoulder, it is a smaller angle of rotation (meaning greater control).
