Herro people, and welcome to today's Daily! Today's game features me losing yet another PvP! I've been losing so often in PvP, and now I think that I'm going to be going for a stargate build like I used to do back in the days of WoL. Robo seems to be becoming so much more common now, and I guess that I just really can't handle doing blink all-ins. While I have given up using blink all-ins, it was very good that i tried it out once since I got some pretty good practice of my blink usage (which used to be horrendous!). I think that I'll be trying to make my own build in the coming days, with some phoenix action!

On to today's game~

Characters
+ Show Spoiler +

Johnson, the lovable 1-st scouting probe! Dream profession is Aiur Head Chef.

Mike the stalker. Hardest working of them all, and single-handedly preventing scouting and pressure, while receiving the least credit.

Emily, the mothership core. Has a secret love for education, but quickly gets out of hand and fires photons all over the place if pissed off.

Snowden, the sneaky observer, watching out for the protoss race. He checks your computer history too.

The Game
+ Show Spoiler +

The beginning of the game is nothing short of original, with both players not scouting each other at all, making 9 pylon, 13 gateway, and so on. I find it ironic that some around-about cheeses (such as a proxy... ish stargate) often are less often detected at higher levels because people start to not send probe scout into the enemy base. Johnson's job has gotten a lot easier, not having to travel long distances every time he has work to do.

It gives me more time to enjoy life with my family. Until I'm sent on a suicide scout, you know.

My opponent goes for a little bit of faster gas than me. He also cancels his second gateway at a really awkward time, when it was nearly completed... I have no idea what this might have been for. Maybe he intended to 3-stalker but just changed his mind. Later this cancel was followed up with a robo.

Emily goes in for her mandatory scout. Since I had been up against so many of them, I naturally assumed at the gateway+robo = fast expand... I was pretty dissapointed later on to see that it was actually just a 3gate robo. 3gate robo seems like a pretty damn good counter to blink stalker allins.

Whoops, my bad. It's K, it'll only cost us the game!

My all-in actually ends up working nearly spot-on for it's timing, moving in at 7:40. Were my enemy going for a fast expand, I daresay that I would have had the firepower to break through. However, he was just turtlin' up.

Now, just a little something that I notice now that I've thoroughly watched this game in order to get dem nice pics... I really am not one to be fast to judge and I don't want to do so.... but I think that this guy was using some sort of hack. There are several instances in which I feel like there's something wrong (especially that awkwardly timed gateway cancel). He NEVER scouted me what so ever, yet he had his units cowering inside of his base as my all-in drew near. He also sent his observer on a straight path to his ramp... every single building after his first 2 pylons were behind his mineral line, as if to prevent getting poked off (that's not as suspicious though)... if he was hacking, it seems like it was some sort of production hack, since he didn't seem to have complete vision of my army at all times (hence why he sent his observer to the attack path, despite not having scouted anything).

Anyways as for the attack, I wait for a while as Photon overcharge wears off, and afterwards I get my shiny metal ass handed back to me.

BLINK MICRO BLINK MICRO BLINK MICRO Oh wait he has immortals.

Afterwards he politely cleans up all of my proxy pylons and moves in towards my base. Some more oddities arise here; first off, he picked off all of my proxy pylons on his way to my base. Not always hax, just because he could be very diligent to get rid of pylons, but if that were the case he would have split more units up and checked more places. Furthermore, as he set his attack rallies, his camera didn't move to the points he was rallying to. It just... stood... still...

I remember seeing something about how some maphacks have a built in system to freeze the player's camera when it looks into the fog of war; I now believe that this is what he was using. The camera freeze is totally unnatural. God this was meant to just be another battle report I didn't mean for this to be discover the hacker...

Nothing suspicious here, captain.

Again, going back into the game! He walked in and killed me.

Bye bye.

I really am not one to jump to conclusions that my opponents hack, I always just assume that I lose because I'm a piece of shit. HOWEVER. I've basically convinced myself that this guy is a hacker, however subtle. This makes the loss feel even more annoying for me, since I only would have lost due to the edge he had of map hacking... asd;lkfjas;dlfkjasd;lfkjasd;fkj.

Conclusion; While writing a battle report, I think I discovered that the guy I faced was a hacker.

Well, either way, I think that it's a good idea for me to change builds. The blink allin strategy just wasn't quite cutting it for me, and I enjoy phoenix play a lot anyways :D. Thanks for reading, if you've got some time give me feedback as to whether that guy actually was a hacker or not, and have a great day! GL HF!

You can set rallies by clicking on the minimap. He goes for a one base allin and you think he's hacking because he's sitting in his base waiting for immortals? The only suspicious thing is the proxy pylons and I obviously can't see if he checked anywhere else for pylons. If you really think he was hacking, take it to the hacker thread in SC2 general.

Also, if it's a production hack like you claim earlier on, he wouldn't know where your proxy pylons were anyway.

It's really iffy, I just feel like the game doesn't look natural. Also looking back on it if the guy were using a hack, it's a map hack rather than a production hack (if not both, but maphack none the less) because of his unnatural camera movement. I know that this guy didn't rally via minimap because of his first "scouting" stalker's rally. He moves his camera, clicks waypoints, then moves to the next waypoint. However, while moving to his camera to his 4th rally point (scrolling sideways) the camera pauses for 2 seconds - switching to everyone view, the camera is stopped right before my hiding probe is within the camera. (if curious, that moment is 4:45~4:47 in the replay).

Anyways yes, I may take it to the hacker thread. This wasn't really meant to be a post of "ermagerd is this guy a haxor?!" anyways, it just happened that I got suspicious while writing.

Why would a production tab hack give them vision of your Pylons? If they're using any type of hack then it's probably a map hack rather than a production tab hack. That they managed to find your Pylons like that does seem suspicious because I can't think of any good reason to attack-move across the map in that particular order. Also, if this was simply a case of your opponent being diligent then you'd expect them to send a Zealot or Probe to check around the whole of their 4th base (the base above their natural) as well because that's a really common proxy location, but it doesn't look like they did that. It could just be blind luck. I don't think their build-order is suspicious though, as their 2 Gate opening can transition into a Robotics Facility just as well as a 1 Gate opening can. Cancelling the Gateway had little-no effect on this game.

As for your Blink build, the problem is that you tried to attack into your opponent's base for no reason. If the opponent opens with Immortals and you open 3 Gate Blink then you should aim to contain them on one base whilst expanding and getting your own Robotics Facility. You can't really kill them once they have Immortals out so I don't know why you bothered to try. All you need to contain them is a single Sentry, since the threat of having their army cut in half should prevent them from trying to come down their ramp. Once you've contained them, they'll either have to get a Warp Prism to elevator units out of their base (try to be diligent with scouting for this) or tech to Colossi so that they can crush your Force Fields. You can end your contain once you've managed to get a couple of your own Immortals and finished your natural expansion. The main thing is to ensure that you don't get greedy on Probes. You only need ~10 mining minerals at your natural to afford a 5 Gate Robo infrastructure (assuming you make mostly Zealots from the Gateways), which will give you a big reinforcement advantage if they try to all-in. If they start to make their own expansion, start making Probes again and go into the mid-game with a massive advantage.

Hmmm sad that it never occured to me to use FFs to contain them ._. I went in thinking I was facing an expansion, and since I didn't realize it until I was at his base I guess I kind of panicked a bit too. If I do use that blink build again I'll make sure to keep in mind the whole containing thing.

Also as for the possibility that he was a hacker, yes, it would have been a map hack rather than production since he pinpointed pylons.

Well, he has given some very critical and enlightening scouting information regarding player's personal build information.

By the way! I tried to do a containment like Sated had suggested, splitting his army as it tried to come down the ramp and expanding the whole time. It worked awesomely! I now indeed feel like I know how to stay in the game against a 3gate robo defense.
