How i plan to improve as a writer in the future

doner0 United States233 Posts July 06 2013 00:36 GMT #1 The last blog was met with some positive and negative responses. Overall though it was clear that I still have a long way to go, and I can’t agree with more. One user, Salazarz, suggested two books of which I have bought both. I’m going to start reading Stephen King’s book first and then move on to Immediate fiction. Now what this means for the blog is that I’m going to become less active as I’m going be focusing on the readings fairly intently. I will still be posting stories but not as frequently. Furthermore, based on the feedback from the writing it is clear that I have to put a more heavy focus on editing rather than just the initial writing. Generally I was writing it in a night and doing a quick lookover but I see now that this isn’t good enough and that my readers deserve much better. So to improve the quality of the writing I am going to make it a two day process where the first is where I write it and do an initial edit and then the second day will have two more edits. By doing this I believe I will catch the vast majority of grammar mistakes and my more prevalent issues as a writer will become visible for you guys. IF you have any further suggestions for the regiment that I have chosen I’m more than happy to hear about and please post it below in the comments. Lastly, I want to thank anyone who has read anything of mine for enduring this process and hopefully one day I will be able to write a truly enticing story. Thank you so much for the support and I look forward to posting my next story, whenever that is.

I didn't write a ton before but since its summer i decided now is better than never. So I've been trying to make a point to write at least something everyday. beg 991 Posts July 06 2013 23:11 GMT #8 prepare for a similar learning curve like almost everything else in life (starcraft, martial arts, whatever) of ~3-5 years of daily practice till you come close to high master. unless you're lucky like some other people who just seem to get to GM in <1 year. if i was you, i'd choose writing over reading, cause that's the skill you wanna develope. not sure how much reading other people's books is worth in learning how to write. i dont write at all btw, these are just some fundamental thoughts people usually overlook.
