Emotions and Procrastination

I noticed a trend in my whole life - that when I'm feeling emotional, it's hard to get things done, and when my blood is cold, I am very efficient.

Successes tend to generate positive emotion, and I kind of fall into a day-dream-ish trance where I reflect on the success.

Failures tend to generate negative emotion, and I tend to become paralyzed and fearful of putting myself out there again, be it love or applying to jobs.

Is this true for anyone else as well? I really need to get over my procrastination bug. If I force myself to sit down, sometimes my mind just isn't there - it's like I need to get to the source of the problem - which is my meandering emotions.

Have one of your good friends kill your pet or something. You'll be really, really efficient and the pet will die in like 2-4 years, although your exam marks will stay with you forever (not really, kind of, just indirectly).

Meditation: to free yourself from the emotions that used to guide you. Cliché, but works nonetheless. There are even people that hold of a new relationship for 15 years in their life, just because they fear reliving the feeling of getting dumped.

After watching the Spurs epic fail to close out the Heat last night I felt depressed going to bed.

But life goes on, masturbate a few times, and grid away at work!

Yea, this isn't normal. Apathy and a lack of emotion is one of the main contributors to laziness and procrastination. If anything, being really excited/interested or otherwise emotional about something gives me energy and pushes me to do something.
