This is my third episode of my new show, Tara Talks!

This week we talk about:
- Some general gaming news and suggestions from the viewers. Really, really excited about some of the new 3DS games coming out, especially Mario and Luigi Dream Team... and Zelda!

- My topic this week covers a bunch of ways newbie SC2 players can get into StarCraft. I love reading in the comments that people are thinking of trying out the game, or wanna get back into it now.

- StarCraft HotS Protoss changes and new units! Dat Void Ray supply up from 3 to 4 cost!

Here is the full episode, let me know how I am doing and if the StarCraft community approves of the new show:

Let me know what you guys think. I know the audience is more for new SC2 players, but getting support from the existing community is lovely. That, and you might actually not know a few of these little tidbits. ^^

ABOUT TARA TALKS
I'm now collaborating with Zoomin.TV Games (a YouTube channel with over 300,000 subs) too bring little StarCraft II tips and gaming news to a mainstream gaming audience. I am on a mission to help new players get into competitive SC2 gaming!
I give the news, let people know what I think, then I relay a small StarCraft tip that I wrote with the help of high-level friends, and gameplay I recorded (for the most part). I hope you guys enjoy the content!

Didnt learn much from the video but i'm definately not your target audience so that doesn't matter much.

Edit: realized this sounded not what i meant. Your content is good I only mean I already knew what you were discussing in terms of the SC2 stuff so I couldn't tell you if it translates well to new players or not.

I will say the presentation quality is very good though, having you on-screen makes it a different from a lot of other similar videos, neat trick.

Interested to see how you progress when you start dealing with the more advanced issues of the game!

I think she'll be getting into more high level tips and strategies in future episodes. Gotta start with the introductory content namean?

Of course thus my comment saying my feedback on that isn't really applicable

Honestly, I would LOVE if she stayed on low-level issues for as long as possible. I want to be able to show this stuff to people that have no clue what Starcraft is about. The kind of person that asks 5 minutes into a game, "Which one is the marine again?"

Looks great so far!

The fact that your thumbnail for the video shows off so much cleavage to try to get more views turns me off heavily.

If this remained about low level kinds of things, I wouldn't mind, it's good to have accessible community figures that let new people enter the game. We need that entry-level so that people can get to higher levels of commentary without having to jump through a pit of sharks.

Really? Is that what you got from her video? I didn't hear any "high level" tips and strats... content is aimed towards plat level players at best. Still it's good to have community figures out there for the lower level players to keep the game interesting with outside-of-game content for people to view or entertain themselves with.

Yeah I am really excited for it. I honestly really enjoy a good bloody, over-sexualized game in between my favorite titles once in a while. :D

I'm going to get into basic, yet helpful, strategies starting next week. Things that will help up to Platinum-level players, but will also maybe teach little tips to higher level players.

Things like the fact that the Void Ray charge ability thing only does extra damage to armored units! I have a Masters friend who thought it was scary when they activated it toward Mutalisks... and obviously his opponent didn't know either since he tried to use it on Mutas in the first place.

Also, this is really helping me learn more facts about the units that may not help me in-game, but might help me with my casting, so I am really enjoying it as well. Helping my speech and game knowledge!

Those were my thoughts exactly. The more people get get into it, the more we can grow the community! I love seeing in the video comments people who are getting the game now, or getting back into it after playing WoL or SC1!

Meh, I usually wear cleavage shirts in the video as well, and those are the only cute "nerd" pics I had to give for thumbnail art. That, and I have nothing at all against sexuality and cleavage... especially when the content is good to back it up... But that's an un-related shit-storm topic and probably an obvious sentiment coming from me by now. ^^

Definitely! Really glad to hear that! :D It's cool to see some of you get what the purpose of the video was. When I posted Ep.1 on Reddit, it was ridiculed pretty heavily for the difficulty level. I just don't post there anymore. >.<

It's meant to turn you on. Your sexual preference most likely prevents this from occurring.

You didn't hear any "high level" tips and strats because of exactly what I said: "I think she'll be getting into more high level tips and strategies in future episodes."

And no, I didn't get that from her video. I got that from knowing what her future episodes will be about...

Was going to make this comment but you beat me to it haha +1

Dunno why some people love the sausage fest Esports has become. IMO the more presentable females as casters the better. But that's just me, sick of listening to casters who sound like they have speech disabilities/require some serious ESL/pronunciation lessons. More new blood in the scene the better.

Yes. There are two parts to being a caster or presenter. There is the "presentation" standpoint. This includes the way the person looks, their personality and how interesting they are, their speech and annunciation, and something that makes them unique. The other part is their actual skill and knowledge of the game and their ability to explain in either an analytical manner or a play-by-play one... or both!

A lot of pro players don't have the first part, and a lot of the entertaining casters and event hosts don't have the latter. It's really awesome to find ones who possess both portions!

I feel I have the first portion down pretty well, I just need to increase my game knowledge and experience playing and talking about the game. Once I get both skills down, I definitely want to go for some kind of professional position in eSports. That's the ultimate goal.

Thanks!

I think that the poster that said that he was turned off by the sexuality in your presentation is implying a common concern. We all know that it would be fantastic to have more females in the e-sports scene, but it tends to merely be females that have little to no clue about how the game actually works at an even remotely respectable skill level being shown off merely as eye candy, and it can make gamers cynical rather quickly. I personally appreciate having an attractive individual to look at when I'm watching something nerd-related, but the worry is a valid one. I think concerns about sexuality in the business will die down somewhat once there are more proven female personalities in the SC2 scene. Until then, you'll probably continue getting unwarranted hate.

As for the content, I really like it. It seems like something that I could show someone who plays SC really casually; not only will they not be turned off by ultra-nerdy, un-attractive males talking about nerdy things, but the stuff that you talk about is actually relevant and can really help newer players. I think it would be great for you to stick to the more newb-friendly tips, as there seems to be an abundance of sources for individuals who are Diamond+ that need tips.

That said, I'm a little iffy on the language. You use very casual language, which I would guess is in an attempt to be casual and connect with the nerd demographic more. However, it almost comes across as "too" casual. Things like "it slows the crap out of my units, making it really suck when I have to run away" (talking about the Mothership Core ability) felt a little awkward and out-of-place. Yea, people may use that language in everyday conversation, but when you're taking the time to tape a video of yourself doing a prepared presentation, I feel like we can expect (and be ok with) language that is slightly more sophisticated, as that language makes you sound more like an authority on what you are saying, as opposed to just expressing some random opinion. You don't have to go all Shakespeare on us, but there can be a little more sophistication.

Anyway, just my feedback, and hope it helps.
A sound mind in a sound body, is a short, but full description of a happy state in this World: he that has these two, has little more to wish for; and he that wants either of them, will be little the better for anything else.
