1st part: http://www.teamliquid.net/blogs/viewblog.php?id=399785

its been a while since i started my adventure of drawing, sadly this last month i didnt put the effort that it requires but im still practicing. I realize is hard to find time to do good practice, i need to be in a quite place and alone and that requirements are not easy to find in my house. Yesterday i woke up with this feeling of "i want to continue drawing" and i did and im glad i did
Something that i didnt expect was that i get tired and not just my eyes and hand, right now my limit is almost 2 hours of drawing.

Now i will show you what i was doing following the instructions of the book i mentioned in the 1st part.

Drawing negative spaces:
in this part you had to draw a chair using negative spaces... harder than i thought.

Perspective... i think and using a "base unit" to make all the drawing within proportion

In this part i was really excited because finally i was going to draw persons/faces so i was hyped. This chapter was really hard, i was getting frustrated but i continued, here you have to use all what you read and practice in the book, the good think is that when i realized this all the knowledge i got in the previous chapters poped up in my head but the hard part was the patience and dedication you need to put in every line to make a good work.
Another thing is that for this part you need a person who sits still for hours and who would wat to do that.. is not going to happen so i used some images from the net resulting in sonme problems with proportions ands another stuff that cost me a lot of time to solve.

1st a little example of the book to warm up

Without a real model i used some image, BEWARE! the following pictures will destroy your eyes T_T

Lest play a game, can you guess who "it" was?

forgive me my lovely natalie T_T

this isnt the actual picture.. i couldnt find it

Here i was really frustrated, i couldnt understand what i was doing wrong xD until i realize that all my proportion were wrong and a lot of shit happening with the picture and the book saying another. Finally, using a beatifull person like that was just too hard for a beginner so i try another model.

Here i thought, thats not bad.... i guess i can continue with the next chapter. I still have no idea how to draw the hair

Now im finishing the book, im in the part that basically says: " the whole is more that the sum of its parts". They indroduce you to the 3/4 view and the proportions of the face in a front and a 3/4 position. I think this is the part of the shadows and another final instructions.
Now in a part the author says to make ans sketch of the 3/4 view to start knowing the proportions, well... i didnt read the "sketch" part until later and i was drawing my self portrait and was almost finishing... this was the result

i was surprised because it kinda looks like me, i was never been able to draw a face to looks like the real one. The only thing i regret is that i got ahead of the book, i will continue following the instructions and redraw my self portrait but im kind happy with the results.

p.s. Normally after i draw something i always think is great, but after some time pass i think, this is a piece of shit, but this portrait is kinda okish after a while. i knoe it lacks a lot of things but i think im getting better

any advice? im thinking in buying some nice pencils, i have using a 2b and hb pencils.

i would define my style between a mix of ByuN, Maru and MKP

Thank you for sharing this! I know, it's hard to start an art that you really have a deep passion for. Especially in the beginning, when you're not so good at it! The feeling you get from the result after working hard doesn't always match the feeling of passion that is inside of you.

If you have the time to read, I recommend The War of Art by Steven Pressfield. It teaches some things that are vital to know as an aspiring artist and as a human being. One thing I should mention is this: the most important thing, when it comes to your art, is to practice every day. Even if it's for 30 seconds, do something with it every day. It helps wire your brain.

Okay. Good luck with your struggles!
Please PM me with any songs you like that you think I haven't heard before!

Good stuff! I always enjoy seeing an artist putting in work. It's nice to see that you're improving as well.

For your perspective drawing, you might want to consider setting up a horizon line and a vanishing point(s). If that's explained in your book, I recommend studying up on it as it will greatly increase your ability to draw your everyday surroundings! If not, just search it up and I'm sure you'll find plenty of tutorials.
