If you want to stay in touch with your inner child, keep up with activities that allow you to do so. If you like anime, watch it sometimes, read comics, etc. I think that people losing their childhood is part of growing up, and the longing to return to that simpler time, that Arcadia of youth, is part of aging. I personally think that a good representation of longing for youth once more is "Why should not old men be mad?" By WB Yeats; in it he describes his frustration with being old and with youth. I think you should go to your old home and pick up a plushdoll or find the toy you onced loved, that will return you to your youth if only for a moment.

It's the best advise there is to remain true to your inner child. I used to walk around pretending I was shooting at my enemies around me, I still do that sometimes and then my gf hits me because she thinks its embaressing. But really, who the fk cares how strange I behave? The people that know me closely know I'm a genius with 165 IQ who is in diamond league and teaches biology - they don't respect me any less for acting insane sometimes

EDIT: But they do facepalm sometimes! XD

Going back on topic, it's impossible and stupid to try to remain a child your entire life, but it's awesome to just forget about everything else occasionally, and just enjoy the little things. Oh and Calvin and Hobbes is awesome too. I own these three huge books that have all of Bill Watterson's comics in chronological order, and I've lost track of how many times I've reread them.

I have mulled over this concept of 'losing' your childhood, and you know what, I don't think it is a good term at all. At worst, it is more akin to shaking your inner child's hand and saying, 'See you in a bit, there's some stuff I gotta do..' And then before you know it, you have kids of your own, you see yourself in the most precious thing you will ever have, and you realize the child you think you 'lost' is smiling back at you, he never really left, he was just waiting.

I used to want to punch kids when I was one myself, and now I would to to prison if I did. There is NO way I would subject myself to that.

My inner child has died and all I'm left with is my inner idiot. Much like the inner child, it does stupid stuff but unlike it, it's unable to enjoy it.

To me, your inner child is really about taking pleasure in the small things. When I see kids being happy they're just doin' whatever makes them happy at that moment. Whether it's pretending they're a penguin or playing with action figures. As an adult I don't go around acting like a penguin, but I do have thoughts like, "What would a penguin do if one was walking by" and I imagine it and smile sometimes. Also, I keep little toys around
