Keep in touch through email and skype (without it long distance relationships are impossible). Flowers sound like a good move. Girls don't just hang out, date, talk a lot and have sex with someone they're not really in to. I'm betting she's missing you just as much and secretly contemplating ways to come visit Thailand. I get that you're surrounded by beautiful asian girls but the chance of one coming close to all those criteria and having good English... go with the sure thing.

I dated a girl that was older than me (though the gap was >1 year) and felt the same as you. This anxiety increased the longer I dated her and eventually led me to break up with her.

Still I don't regret it because we both enjoyed the time.

But I think you would be better served straight up asking for a fling rather than a serious relationship. Then it is her call if she wants to 'waste' time on you rather than looking for marriage and you can relax in that knowledge if she says yes. If she says no, well at least you have closure!

the only issue here is that you guys still have a lot of distance between each other. Long distance if you haven't been together for a long time is usually a bad idea. If you can close the gap and go to where she is, it is a great idea. She is a pretty girl who obviously thinks the same of you and you guys have some similarities

EDIT: read some above comments that I missed, if you are going back and forth, it still isn't necessarily what you want, but if both of you are ok with it, then I wouldn't worry too much.

Like other people have said age does not necessarily have to be an issue unless one of you make it an issue. I would say personality and interests are more important.

The specific age rule for dating it divide your age in half and add seven. Meaning you can only date women as young as 21. Your fine. Who cares if she is ONE YEAR older than you? Is this elementary school where one years separates you entirely? GL
