We here on TL have high standards for blogs, especially if you dare use the [Girl Blog] tag in the title. More details, more drama, make up a fake dream you had of her or write a fiction.

Make it clear, though, that you won't do anything if he feels its not ok. I know it sucks man. Been in this position before myself, but there will ALWAYS come another girl that you will feel for. Reading all these answers... None of you knows how his friend is as a person, how can you give such advice? "He should understand" What if his friend has an altar of her with candles and voodoo dolls and big posters and pictures of her with different outfits and postures and facial expressions... OP: Ultimately you have to ask yourself this: Is it worth risking a lifelong friendship with your best pal for a relationship with a girl that might not even last a year? The first step is to tell you friend how you feel. After that you have to feel what to do. I like this answer. Edit: careful not to let him say he's ok with it if he really isn't.

I honestly expected more responses like this and less of the "go fuck over your friend" variety. I was blown away. Smart girls rock. I once met a philosophy of science major. She asked why I was an agnostic. I said because there was no way to prove whether there was a god. She repeated my answer to confirm she understood it. It took me 6 months to realize she was patronizing me. Religious people can use the same argument technically to believe in religion. I wasn't downtalking religion though so maybe I was ok... In fact talking to smart people in general is exciting. Sometimes scary or depressing, but always different. Dunno how I'd feel marrying a genius tho D:

A large part of the reason nothing has happened already is that they have lived a few hours away from each other for the last couple years. Based on what I saw last night I'd say he has somewhat of a shot. I don't really know though. Either way I know my friendship with him is more important than some girl, no matter how awesome she is. Don't talk to me about growing some balls. I'm not one of the desperate nerds that populate internet forums such as this (although 4 or 5 years ago I was.) I have no problem going out and picking a girl up if that is what I want to do. I just know this one is off limits to me and it sucks because she is fuckin' awesome.
