winter is rough. i'm having trouble with SAD but i changed my sleep schedule so i could run outside and bask in the sunlight as soon as i wake up. do you think that would help you a bit? still hard though, cuz it's cold as balls.

i don't think the commonly used verb "fighting" when describing dealing with depression is much accurate; you just kinda get wrecked and have to deal with it. it's difficult, but i think it's really important to try to come up with hope for the future. i feel so empty when i have nothing to look forward to, but possess an almost delusional joy at being alive when i do. maybe we'll hang out finally at an event sometime soon

sorry about your grandpa. time has endless cruelties to visit upon every creature that has ever existed. i hope it's some measure of solace that he really cared about you when his faculties were still intact. i'm quite fearful of when my relatives get old too.

eat delicious things and try your best to love yourself. it's hard to convince someone else love you if you can't do it yourself, right? talk to you soon

Man... I would give you advice, but I have told myself to refrain from that until I climb my way out of the hole I've dug.

One tiny little thing though. Have you considered anti-depressants? Obviously they are only a bandaid solution, but feeling shitty all the time does not help anyone.

Struggled with depression and self loathing as well for some time. It's mostly because in those moments, we are not rooted in reality, but in our minds. Just from your taste in women, it is pretty clear you are going to fantasize about things that COULD BE, but not how they are in the present. Then you will compare your fantasy (which is complete bullshit and not real) to reality. Honestly, for me these words helped me the most : "smile, breathe, and go slowly". Can read more about mindfulness here

1) smile, even if you have to fucking force yourself (the mind affects the body, and the body also affects the mind)
2) if you feel like complete shit, or hopeless take a minute, slow down and just BREATHE. Root yourself to reality, you are alive, and breathing. You have POTENTIAL.
3) Take each moment for what it is and nothing more

Hope this helps, as it did for me.

I know how much Alzheimer's sucks.
Not only as a doctor, but as a member of a family of someone who had it.
My grandpa also had Alzheimer's disease, and the last 2 years of his life, he didn't recognize me anymore. It was sad, he thought I was my dad...
I know that bitter feeling, and I just want to send you a big hug from across this screen, man. You look like a super cool dude, and I hope things look up this year.
