I was asked to describe myself with one word for an introduction yesterday, and the word that immediately came to mind was "Swimming".
And, the more I think about it, the more I realise how accurate that is. Everything in my life circles around my swimming, more or less, and the sport and the people I met along with it have been a huge part of my life, and has in so many ways shaped me into who I am.
Had I not gotten into swimming, I would not have become the person that I am today.
It's interesting, how big a role something, a single thing, can play in your life. One event, or one decision, has the potential to completely reshape you and start a chain of events that'll drop you off somewhere, somehow, you could never have imagined.
I've decided to go to the U.S to study at the (there are multiple options, but I'm leaning towards the University of Arizona), while pursuing my swimming career alongside my studies. If I do end up going, which I'm fairly convinced I will, I'll probably come home in a few years as a changed person. And all of that; studies, swimming, new friends (at least I hope so), new experiences, it'll all have come from my decision to actually compete at that terribly, terribly organised swimming meet in Tommelilla, Sweden for about 12 years ago. If I hadn't done that, I wouldn't have been writing this either.
If someone asked you to describe yourself with one single word, what would that word be? What do you consider the most defining decision or thing in your life?

Well my first inclination would be to not answer, as I really do not like attempting to cram my personality into a single word, but thinking along those lines, I'd say my answer would be "Nonsense". I love it and I'm full of it

Impatient.
Everything I do now, that I've done and want to do is due to my impatience.

Planning. I make elaborate plans in my mind (at the very least) even for some of the simplest things I do.

It is not a language though... Don't you speak mandarin? I guess I don't have one thing that defines me, but philosophy is my favorite subject, and history is the subject I am best at. Maybe those define me?

Competition.
My whole life, i dont know why, but I've felt a need to prove myself in anything that I do: music, sports, academics. I think it's a good think but addiction to competition can be bad, although it is probably good for a sc2 player.

we all enjoy pleasure and happiness. what i try to do differently is to enjoy the inevitable dark times as well. makes life very interesting.

Usually when people say they speak chinese, it means they speak mandarin chinese. people only indicate they speak a particular dialect if it's not mandarin.

ASD.
And not just the direct effects. It had a thousand and one HUGE indirect impacts on me, from causing me to go to many special classes and schools, to the Dunning-Kruger effect that had me being the most outgoing and socially impaired guy you ever did see. That Dunning-Kruger effect, coupled with my killer memory, led to a complete reversal of behavior almost instantly as I ended up unwillingly torturing myself through operant conditioning by constantly remembering all the horrifically embarrassing shit I did while I was severely affected by my disorder.
And all that stuff I just listed... barely even qualifies as a fraction of what ASD has done to me.

One word? I'd like to think it's 'learning,' or maybe 'friendship' but realistically i think most people would say 'derp.' I've just been derping so hard ever since I can remember.
