This Blog was for a long time in my mind, but i wasn´t able to write it yet, because i´m not so sure how to put my feelings in words, but as I wrote it the feelings and my thoughts kinda exploded, so sorry for this long text and my suboptimal English, so her is what I have to say:

THANK YOU STARCRAFT!

And with this I don´t mean broodwar, actually starcraft 2, because I was too young to play broodwar and discovered the whole RTS genre with SC2 and fell in love with it and it changed my life.
I got SC2 in Winter 2010 and honestly thought it´s pretty lame, so I played the campaign and stopped, then in January or February 2011 a friend wanted to play 2v2 with me, we never got over gold, but we had a damn good time :D

Then one day an other friend introduced me to the eSport aspect of SC2 and first I didn´t like it, but then I realized the beauty of the game and the amazing Speed and how one mistake costs you the game and after a time I really got into it and finally climbed from bronze to masters in a 9-10 months. I needed that much time, because I never played RTS and in the beginning I thought it would be better to use my own builds instead of copying the pros.
The Sad thing about this, was that my friend quitted the day I got better than him, I think he was disappointed that I improved so much (much is very relative ), while he basically didn´t. After another year, which means 2012 and actually right now I can say that I never lost passion and that my life changed completely because of Starcraft.

A change for the good.

Before I started seeing SC2 as a sport and myself as an athlete trying to do my best and even more, I didn´t really had dreams or anything to fight for. I was kinda motivationless and did a lot of stupid things in my free time, most of it involved some FPS-games or doing stupid things, like drinking, with my friends . I also had quite bad marks in school, but it all changed with the dawn of competitive Starcraft in my life.

In the beginning it was just a hobby, something that I did, because I hadn´t to do much else, but when I first started playing some tourneys and joined a team all changed, I realized I can only improve if I feel good, both mentally and physically.
So I started doing a lot of Sports , because I believe in the “in a healthy body lives a healthy mind” principle (30 minutes a day Workout routine, maybe not much for some guys out here, but for someone who never has done Sports before it is quite challenging). Now I stick for 6 months to my workout, while switching up my excecises, and I start to feel very happy with the results.

But not only physical I changed, also due to the Sport and the hunger for Success rised, I also started to try hard in school and I will be able to get a decent degree next summer . I also started to go earlier to bed, to get more sleep and be able to use the day very good and not hanging around all the time, because I am tired, but honestly sometimes (partying with friend, MLG etc.) I have my problems with that.
My social life changed too, the Cycle of the People I would call friends has reduced, but I am much closer to my friends than I ever was before. The only thing I don´t like about my life, is that I don´t have a girlfriend, but I think that´s something that will come with time and I shouldn´t try too hard to get one, I also have good contact to many girls so if I really star to meet “the one” I think I will “do quite good”

So, I am happy if you actually read this whole thing and I hope you didn´t find It too boring, but I felt like I had to write this very personal blog, to say what I wanted to say.

I also have to thank Jinro, because his stream introduced me into American underground Hip-Hop, which I really started to listen to it and I have bought a couple of great albums.
Because everybody loves to put in music videos in their blogs I will do it to, but you don´t have to listen to it, I just like it and often refer this to my life.

Awesome post man. I felt the same way a couple of years ago, and you are right, it does change your life. You start thinking about stuff much more efficiently and methodical, which is a great thing!
A word of advice though, be very wary to not step the line into abuse, as I, and many other people have. Starcraft is a fkin great experience, and your brain knows it. Don't let it decide what you want to do, decide with responsibility, and in many occasions, balls. This comes from a guy with a great love for the game for over 6 years, having problems come and go since the second year!
Great to have someone on the community that's as passionate and sentimental about it as I feel I've been. Glhf!

Thanks for your advice man, i think i have the control over it, i just wanted too express my joy about the game and my life now, and actually i don´t play tooo much (around 7 games a day), and still have a good social life and except one, all my friends son´t play starctraft or even like it, so i have enough and not only the game, that dictates me :D

Also i wanted to express how competition can change you, because my life has way more aspects than just laddering and palying tourneys, it´s just awesome how i got in every part of my life a new mindset and a more positive way of dealing with bad things in life and lif in general.

yeah and to think it only took me two and a half years -.-

well that's pretty awesome, i love hearing stories like this, starcraft is a pretty sick game, i can't believe i ever thought call of duty was the pinnacle of electronic entertainment, starcraft really struck a chord in me, i swear the life skills you get from sc are comparable and perhaps better than your traditional sports
