End of day feelings: Frustrated
Things focused on: 50 SCVs, and re-order my opening
Completion of Focus: SCVs doing quite well, had some issues with the opening
End of Day Placement: Bronze (Top 8!)

Well, after looking at some games I saw I was getting my gas too early, so I swapped it with the 2 barracks after my expo, which seemed to screw up my rhythm a lot more then I thought it would. Mostly it would screw up my timing with my factory at 6:50 (often times I'd realize I forgot it at 7:10-7:30) Gonna need to work on that a bit more.

After practicing a little I decided to play a bit. First game I held off a 6 pool and won and felt good about myself... then I proceeded to lose the next 4 games almost entirely to zerg. (one game was a Protoss 2 gate zealot rush that I couldn't hold off) Most everything that beat me was early rushes taking advantage of the fact that my game isn't as clean as it normally would be (when it's hard to stop early rushes normally for me). I managed to come back and win a few games, but overall I was 4-8 tonight with many annoying losses (one of which I had DOUBLE the army size as him at one point but wasn't organized and lost).

I am not going to let it get to me though because I know that if you graph improvement it will look like an inclined sine wave and I'm on a downward slide after adding some new things to my game, no big deal, just frustrating at the time and have to move on. *shrug* That being said there are a few things I have trouble with which I will list here in order of "importance" to stop:

Misclicks - I have to stop misclicking. I managed to suicide 80 food worth of army units when doing a drop because I had them following the medivacs so they ran into the cannon wall he had set up and did nothing. I lost an hour long game after destroying all of zerg's bases but one (every time I took his bases the drones scattered and would rebuild randomly) because I kept forgetting to attack move and he had a few banelings take out my 200 food army while I was building and not watching.

Cannon Walls: I'm having a hell of a time beating a protoss cannon (or zerg spine crawlers) wall at their expansion. I will have an awesome start, do my 10:00 attack and move out with a 120 food army against a 30 food army but I lose everything to his 7 photon cannons. If I try to sit back and macro then my weak middle/end game skills become a problem, or my favorite I try and expand but then can't manage to protect my expansion and lose to his huge attack he's been building up slowly behind his impenetrable cannons.

Transitions: I suck, that's all there is to it. I get to the middle game and all I do is make millions of marines, but only 3 tanks or other such things and manage to lose because they have the big fancy units and I have the wrong bio units. I need to figure out what to make and how to use the things I make.

That's a good enough list for now, even though there's a LOT more that I do wrong. I'm a newb after all.

To hold off 2gate, scout early, then wall up and pull 3-5 scvs to mass repair. If he is surely going break through, then you should bunker behind your mineral line.

If they have spine/cannon walls, they are wasting a lot of minerals on static defence. You don't have to attack; you can just contain them, and wait for tanks to come out, then siege up and kill their wall slowly. If you think they are building up some secret army behind the static defence wall, just scan and prepare accordingly. A basic mistake beginners make is attacking anything they see with their army. Keep calm, observe the situation and decide whether to attack or not judiciously.

For transitions, you could try making medivacs to heal your marines, and get more factories. The marine tank medivac composition is one of the most basic ones and is very solid in TvT and TvZ.

Don't get too frustrated by your losses; it's just a game. Learn to focus on the gameplay, not the outcome, and enjoy every game, be it a win or loss. No point playing a game if you're only happy when you win.

Pangpootata - First off, awesome name. Secondly thanks for all of the great advice. The cannon wall thing has been an issue a lot for me lately, it seems that every Protoss I play against builds a forge first and then 7 cannons at the natural. I out macro him like mad and take an early third but then manage to lose it all the first time he comes out from behind his cannon curtain (usually with 6 or 7 colossi). After reading your reply I now think that has more to do with the fact that I'm not building more factories. I end up with 15 barracks and 2 factories that I sometimes remember to make tanks out of, definitely going to work on that.

tip: make sure you're upgrading your marines! if you have stim + combat sheilds and an attack upgrade with medivaks you can RIP through almost all static D.

MMM is a powerful lategame terran composition , marine marauder medivak
