did you get your psychology degree from watching Dexter?

My sister has a degree in psych.

Frits does, too. So we have two psych people disagreeing with each other on this matter...

You'd need to have a pretty severe lack of empathy to enjoy crippling birds with stones, wouldn't you?

what? how is it just "nope"? It seems to me like this is pretty bad even for a kid, purposefully baiting the birds with the intent of injuring them. sure I guess you could argue "but if he hasn't been taught it's wrong, how could he know?".

I remember when i was a kid, i kicked a pine-cone and it hit a bird, not even injuring it, and I felt bad for days.

You are. You lure birds in, break them with stones and then drown them. Repeatedly. If that isn't creepy as fuck, I don't know what is.

I used to kill birds with my BB gun in middle school. As soon as I did it I'd feel extremely bad about it. I don't know what drove me to it, some sort of resentment, possibly jealousy like you are describing. Maybe like you I wanted to be them... unselfconscious, free, beautiful. I'm still ashamed when I think about it.

Oh hey, I guess it's a common misconception or something, then, because I've always heard that torturing small animals was supposed to be some sort of indicator for potential psychopathy lol.

In any event :| no comment. It seems like once in a while SoR/EA will make an alright post and you think maybe they're not that bad, but then BOOM they come out with a really weird post again...though if I recall correctly the last one wasn't exactly fantastic, either.

this was about freedom. birds could fly, and I could not. you see, when I threw rocks at birds my intention was never to kill them, but to handicap them, to blow out one of their wings so they could never fly so freely so high in the sky ever again

That is so cliche that I can't count the numbers of books I heard a version of that in and I'm not really into reading.

Also, i always thought birds are cute, I loved birds... no problem killing them ether if its needed, did cut the neck of a few chickens when I was about 12 ( with my grandma helping ofc... killing a chicken is actually hard if you are stupid, almost cut the tip of my finger off :/ ) but it was mainly to brag about killing an animal with an axe :p
Still... never felt like i wanted to see a bird die for no reason, I own a parrot and he is quite lovely.

Insects, they can go to hell, fuck those.

No one wants to tell me why I'm wrong.

This study confirmed the hypothesis that APD is associated with a history of cruelty to animals.

APD has a lot in common with psychopathy, doesn't it?

It's an argument of correlation. To kill animals does not increase your probability of becoming a psychopath in the future, that's an argument of causation. The study itself used the words "correlate" and "correlation" quite a few times.

It's bothersome because it's another media-type misleading correlation. Like when they say that people who drink coffee are more likely to live longer. People don't live longer because they drink coffee; what's going on is the slew of unaccounted variables: people who drink coffee often work, people who drink coffee might use the caffeine because they have an active lifestyle, being active probably reduces the odds that you're a fat lazy slob, and not being a fat lazy slob avoids health problems that shorten your life.

Basically, what you said is technically true, but misleading, and sensationalist.

You mentioned you were little, which I will admit is a rather ambiguous term and one you can alter to suit your needs, i.e. "I was talking about my stature in size, not my age". But yes as a younger person I doubt very highly that you could knock birds down with rocks from your throwing arm.

There's only two situations in which I could believe this story. Either you covered the worms in superglue, causing the birds to be stuck, or the birds you are talking about are chickens, and you grew up on a farm.

I was talking about the act of knocking birds to the ground, not the supposed reasons for doing so.

Exactly how wrong this is is indeed debatable.

Killing little animals is one thing, that doesn't make you the next James Holmes. But happily playing with dead animals will eventually find it's way in the news after you've killed a bunch of people. (not saying that you enjoy playing with dead animals, just that you were a little kid being a little kid.)

Also, you should invest some knowledge into paragraphs.

SLUG lol. I'm pretty sure the "Bird" in the song is just a metaphor..that's how I have always listened to it at least. That's what the best rappers do is make the words work literally and metaphorically. MF DOOM is my favorite for this type of thing.

http://rapgenius.com/Atmosphere-bird-sings-why-the-caged-i-know-lyrics

I'm not really sure what to think about the actual blog, except there is definitely something pent up.

PS/EDIT: For the record that's one of the worst rapgenius "translations" I've ever seen. It looks like some interpretation I would have written in 9th grade.
P.S. I'm nub. If you'd like you can follow me @xthurst but its not worth it ill be honest
