Went through Monetization walkthroughs, and it's pretty straight forward. Put a couple Dark Souls videos up but waiting on the go ahead from From Software to put ads on my videos, trying to get CS:GO streaming, for some reason it drops FPS to about a quarter of what I get without Xsplit on, which is strange considering I have an i7 940 and a 6970. Rendering/Encoding/Uploading shouldn't be an issue, especially because most of the games I have tried work fine. But as of yesterday I've seen some results.
So far the set up to get everything going is easy, but the next issue is drawing in viewers. I saw something on the Blizzard Diablo forums the other day called the Random HC Challenge (link) which seems interesting. One thing I thought about was charity donations for my first bit of profit as I am working full time and don't really need anything, would just like to stream and have it more active. This is basically like making your own community, like many streamers do such as MaximusBlack and Destiny do.
Starcraft, however is proving to be difficult, not impossible. Competition is high, but that's not even the issue, it's keeping people interested, so commentary, questions and general interaction helps, for this you absolutely need a second monitor.
For the time being I will chronicle my findings to help anyone that is also wanting to do what I am doing. Yes this may sound like me just pushing myself, but it's an opener to what I will be posting about in coming weeks.
TL;DR - Starting to try and capitalize on gaming as an experiment to see what it really takes. Probably take proceeds to charities while I am working full time. If I end up being successful enough to make it a living, I will do so, while remaining a charity donor.
