1 apex predator that relies on size, speed and strength against 40 (albeit very small) apex predators that rely on brains and tools. Give the midgets weapons, they win no probs but without weapons? Humans SUCK at fighting without our trusty weapons, a Lion has built in weapons. A Lion can cave in a fully grown humans chest with one flick of its paw, it has teeth that can rip through flesh and retractable claws that do the same. Unless all the midgets managed to jump on its back at the same time and thats frankly near impossible since the midgets would barely be tall enough to jump that high (a fully grown male Lion is about 4 feet tall at the shoulder, and can be up to 9 feet tall when standing on hind legs) especially when you consider that they would have to pile up on top, a highly unlikely feat. The Lion is much much much stronger than the strongest human while midgets are weaker than an average human. Lions have a much higher pain tolerance and tougher skin. I could carry on but i digress.... The Lion could easily kill 5-10 midgets with a few of swipes of its paws, or at least incapacitate them. A few more swipes and theres another 5 gone, and another 5. Lion wins nearly every time.... its simply better built for killing than humans. You could probably put a Lion in a room with 40 fully grown average Humans and it would still come out on top if it could avoid being jumped on by too many at once. | ||

They have to go for it, immediately without any second thoughts. If they don't act quickly their numbers will dwindle and they lose their pack advantage, then the rest would get torn to shreds. I reckon though if 40 of them just went straight for it they would win, though it's definitely a close call. | ||

Sure the midgets can surround and maybe even grab/touch the lion; but the sheer power of the animal can/will move any tiny object from it's desired path. Plus a lion can survive kicks from a zebra, gazelle, etc. Most humans will sustain incredible injuries from an incident like that. Sure you start off with 40, but that number will get quickly twiddled down as the lion does what a Lion does. Also it depends on the kind of lion we are talking about. A lion that fears humans or a lion that doesn't fear anything are two drastically different animals. Seriously read Death in the Long Grass by Peter Chapstick if you want to read some crazy lion stories from a man who lived them. | ||

I don't think many people in this thread realise just how pathetic we human beings are. We really are the weakest sacks of shit mother nature has ever produced. Our strength, pound for pound, is so horrible it is unbelievable. This is something that really needs to be pounded home here. We humans, pound for pound, are so incredibly weak compared to our animal counterparts it is beyond absurd. Against even mid-size creatures not known for fighting prowess such as the larger monkeys, there is literally nothing you can do. They are above and beyond what you could ever hope to fight against successfully. All you can do is pray to your god that they leave enough of you attached to your bones so that you can at least breath without a machine for the rest of your life. A fully grown lion? A death machine ripped from your darkest nightmares here to deliver you to your maker? Not in your wildest dreams. | ||
