I do have a point I'm getting to, believe it or not.
As the title says, its that feeling of "Holy shit I totally just won something!" In Sc2, the matchmaking system ensures that somewhere out there, there's someone just as bad as you waiting to get into a fair fight. So long as you're playing with a monitor, you're pretty much guaranteed to win right around 50% of your games at the very least. In BW, you're not afforded this luxury. If you're truly bad at the game like myself, you wander over to iCCup and get mauled by everyone right off the bat. It kinda sucks in some ways, but it makes sure that you feel great whenever you do manage to win a game.
Even for a general baddie, my ZvP is particularly awful. Teamliquid's very own legend Chef tried to help me with that a year ago but it didn't quite pan out. It was so bad that a grudgeless grudge match I had in the works with TL member IPlayThings was called off not because either of us dodged, but because he felt bad stomping someone who was emphatically D- in the match up.
This time I decided I'd start with ZvP, hosting on Icarus as it's motw right now. Sure as shit, truly reflective of the story of my life, I died immediately in the first game to about 7 speedlots with +1. Not to get discouraged just yet, I hosted a second game. The guy tried to go Sair/Reaver which, as it turns out, isn't something D level players should be doing. I casually hobbled 6 hydras over to the Corsair flock hovering over my 4th base and killed the shuttle with two reavers in it. Naturally, he died immediately to the counter.
Even though this was an objectively stupid game where I got really lucky and then won with a 1a2a3a4a, it still felt great! That's part of the beauty of playing this game :D
Of course, this will hopefully mean the return of my well-received series "Adventures in D Level" that I haven't done in a very long time. Once I get a nice game, a new one should come out. Check out the five I've already done, under the "Battle Reports" section of my profile!
Gotta go back to ladder now, I have some zealots to die to. Cheers~
