Mushrooms are EXTREMELY easy to dose man.
Want to relax yet still do stuff around town?
Take a gram to two grams.
Want to actually trip?
Take over an eighth.
LSD is hard to dose, you don't know the actual micrograms on it unless you've tested the batch yourself before hand, or have knowledge of whoever layed it.
Mushrooms are ok... acid Is so much better imo. They both have their place though.
(I had the best trip of my entire life recently with acid, I wanted to blog about it but not sure if anybody would be interested or anything)

I'm curious though, since acid trips can last up to 12 hours how can you cope with bad trips?

I've had "bad trips" on LSD. They're a lot easier to handle than bad trips on mushrooms, at least for me.
Also the peak would be the biggest part of acid, which lasts like 4-5-6 hours. If you're having a bad time it'll likely end after that.
I had a trip on acid after I got my surgery done, and I felt like the surgery wounds were ripping back open and I freaked the hell out, but STILL managed to find some enjoyment from it.
Mushrooms? Fuck that. Bad trip on mushrooms for me and I'm just done. I'll lay there and cry for hours.

Yea I used to do hallucinogens a bit in the past, I did shrooms in Amsterdam when I was 17 and various other things after that. Now I steer clear of them ever since I took acid, which is a fairly humorous, albeit slightly dark story.
To cut a very long story short, I took too much on Hampstead Health in London, we were chilling out but I started to get really anxious, I basically felt like I was on the lowest rung of society (weird to explain fully) and I was with a bunch of degenerates (the guys I was with I knew, and like me were all studying physics at a very prestigious university).
I had to get out of there and away from these people, I ended up running away from them and walking around very nice areas of north london, I'll spare the details but I came too in Camden covered in anti-vandal paint, minus my bag with my nice headphones, wallet, keys, phone (which I threw away on the heath). In that time I had walked into peoples houses, had a lie down in someones garden, threw a small rock at a woman on a bike, then tried to hug her when she rightly confronted me about it.
When I came too I was in a state of total helplessness, I had no money, I was hungry and very thirsty, I had a vague idea of where I was but it was quite far from my house and my flatmate was away so I had no way of getting in.
I did end up getting home thanks to a nice bus driver, who I told I was mugged and my neighbours let me hop their fence after giving me a glass of water as my backdoor was closed but unlocked.
My state of mind at the time when I was up was completely devoid of any perception of who I was, I was basically going around 'experiencing' things but in a very odd way, I feel very lucky that I didn't do anything to actually harm myself or anyone else and one thing I couldn't help feel afterwards was just how terrifying it must be to experience this kind of thing due to mental illness, the confusion, the helplessness etc
The high itself was definitely enjoyable, although the fallout when sobering up was horrible and I didn't really leave the house much for a month or two after, but I am thankfully a very happy and pragmatic person and the experience taught me quite a lot about some things which I don't think a person could learn any other way, it really reveals the fragility of our minds and gives you a much deeper appreciation for the suffering of mental illness.
I think these substances are a double edged sword, you can learn some valuable things, although the 'expanding your mind' part to me is nonsense, you are closing off parts of your brain.
These days I just stick to a nice bit of weed from my trusty vaporizer as I know the worst consequence from that is eating the contents of my fridge and feeling a bit groggy in the morning if I do too much.

The amount of psilocybin can deversify greatly in shrooms as well. I guess you are talking about shrooms produced under industrialised conditions. They may be quite save to dose, dunno, i'm no shroom guru. I just know, you should be really careful with the ones you find everywhere in the woods over here in the right time of year: You get "unlucky" and the first serving is lame, then you think you have to take a lot more and suddenly it's killer good stuff, so you overshoot your goal. Can and has happenend. Not to me, but i've been around. Good thing about drugs with long time effects is you can slowly reach for the aimed high. Just be careful, if you're unexperienced.
Also keep in mind every person is different. Different tolerance levels, etc. I already mentionend mental conditions...

I plan on trying some drugs. Is it anything like alcohol? I can hold my liquor quite fine and i have some preferences to a couple of drinks, having next to no hang-over, be it even 1+ liter of red wine, while others make the next morning quite hard to bare.
I want to be starting on weed and later try shrooms. I'm aware of the possibility of having bad trips, that's why i've promised myself i'll do them only when i'm in a tip-top mental state, when i'm happy and everything is going great.
I've never smoked tough, i've tried to a couple of years ago and not only it didn't feel right, but the taste felt horrible. Will this hinder the weed experience?
I am also meditating, this alone should help keep my mind at ease if anything turns bad, right? I'm not training it for nothing.
