with taeja being no.1 on every ranking on TL (surprise surprise) you have got to wonder why he never gets past ro8 in gsl

Personally I would put IM over SlayerS, but that's just me. People have already voiced their opinions on the list, and I generally agree with them.

Would rate DRG above MKP. Both are slumping, but I would argue MKP slumping more.
I'm a Byun fan, but don't think he deserves 6th. Top 10 perhaps, but not 6th. Definitely below Symbol imo.
San too high even after OSL ro16. Can't justify him above Genius imo.
aLive, even thought I don't like him, should be a bit higher.
violet should be a lot higher imo.

You should make it a bit more clear what you weigh more, recent results or overall past results. Also, how much you weigh GSL/foreign LANS/online tournaments.
Also, should probably add a CBNC section.

I guess you could place DRG over MKP, both are slumping at a really high level though. Would like to see something more from DRG as he didnt play much lately.
Byun, I think I may have placed too high. Maybe I was a too big fanboy there, could place him directly below Symbol.
San is placed right, I think. I wondered myself and double checked his results. He already beat many good players in IPL 5 and MLG qualifiers. Then the OSL qualification (+ ro16). In ESV Grand Prix he only was stopped by Taeja. Since begin of June he got a 65% winrate. Genius wasnt too shabby either, hell, 4 places down is almost nothing.
alive and violet have been disappointing lately. Especially violet is competing in many foreign events, and I think you agree that you can't value their many wins against midtier foreigners too much as most of the Code S/A players could perform similarly if given the chance. Their winrate against other top koreans isnt good at all lately.

Sorry, what do you mean by CBNC section?

I'm still really confused as to how you can put Coca so high on that list while he's in Code B and not put Losira on the top 30 who has been looking just as good as Coca recently. They have both been performing in team leagues, coca lost 0-2 in the ODT while Losira got 5th/6th at MLG. If you use old records, last year Losira was as impressive or more impressive considering he was a GSL and MLG silver medalist. They both had some time out of the spotlight due to different reasons and both came back around the same time. I have no idea how Sniper managed to get on your top 30 but Losira didn't, he lost in the ODT, lost in Code A to Hyun. He got some teamleague wins but that's about all I can find unless I'm missing something huge.

Sniper was huge in teamleagues, his combined wins in IPTL and GSTL may be the most overall. He also qualified for OSL. Overall that makes for a 66% winrate since end of June. It was not top competition and many ZvZ, so his spot is wacky, but its only at the bottom of the top30.
In qualifying for OSL alone, Coca beat JYP, Supernova and alive. Thats a bigger feat than 5/6th MLG for LosirA where LosirA only had to beat Real, Sase and alive. Coca also had the most wins in GSTL, check all his results, they are vastly superior to LosirA. I don't use records who are a year old very much.

supernova is like the most consistent terran player besides mvp. he like always makes it to ro8 and he isnt even on the top 30? granted i think his tvp is his best mu and tvz is weakest but he is still better then someone like polt in overall mathups in my opinion. he is though consistently in code s and has been for as long as i have been watching so that would be at least the past 4 gsls and he isnt even mentioned.....most underrate player in sc2 history because he never gets to the finals and doesnt go overseas and is only in gsl code s

edit: you also dont win gsl code s matches based on luck. there is no "luck factor" in gsl code s besides the ro32 who you get matched up against

You don't win only by luck, but there is a always a luck factor in SC2. If you lose a series 2-3, it all matters if you lost a medivac early in one game or saved it by a few HP.
Or you might not call it luck, but win distribution. If one player beat another one 3-2, do you really think he would win almost surely if they play another Bo5?

Regarding Supernova: Yeah, he was always stable. The last month was weak. He isnt back in Code S (yet). But maybe I was too harsh, and he deserved to be in top30 barely. But it`s difficult to put another one out. As I said, top30 is really really good, not even all Code S players would fit in there. Perhaps I should make a top50 .

Ranked 25 =/

Sorry, but thats poor quick reasoning. Rank 25 is really good. There are only 5 terran players who are really ranked better than Gumiho. Look at the results of top15 players and tell if Gumiho can hold up to that.
Gumihos allkill is 5 games out of the 85 games in the last 2 months. Its valued more than other games. But won't get him a top spot alone. He failed in OSL, MLG and many TSL qualifiers.

I'm really not a Teamliquid fanboy.
But this is a ranking of current skill, not past achievements. Results in the last 2-3 months matter the most and there was only one GSL where Taeja did well and only barely lost to MC. Taeja only recently improved his skill even more and with his GSL performance and MLG win, I don't think there is anything that would stop him from going further than Ro8 (like nerve issues for example).

CBNC = close but no cigar, a section both the TL BW power ranks and TL SC2 power ranks have. Basically, just list like 5-10 names like Bomber, Maru, Losira, Supernova, theStC etc... who were really close to the list. You don't have to rank them, just acknowledge they were close.
Also, looking at this, I think Symbol is too low, although Seed/Squirtle/Symbol/Byun is really close to each other, moving Byun to the bottom of that list could fix this.
Don't forget that alive and violet both have won BIG foreigner tournaments with mass mass amount of koreans in them.

I also agree with Dodgin on this. Although I think CoCa deserves to be higher than Losira by a significant amount, I don't think you can justify CoCa at 10 while Losira isn't even on the list. He did well in team league, made RO32 in OSL, beat MKP in a showmatch, and got to the semis of ESV, but still that's not enough for top 10 imo without big GSL or foreigner tournament results.

We actually recently did an internal TL ranking and 4/4 people had MC above Taeja.

This has alot of problems, but it is a subjective list, so i;ll just say that mvp in his current form (due to injury) might be too high. Taeja is looking strong, but i'm not sure he is number one overall. MKP and DRG should be flipped, and both of them dropped a few spots. This is not all that great a ranking in my opinion, but mine is worth no more that yours, so thanks for putting this out for discussion

Despite my criticism, I think it's rather good ^^. Imo, no one's really off more than 3-4 places. I would personally do something like:

(P)MC, (T)TaeJa, (Z)DRG, (T)MKP, (Z)Symbol, (P)Squirtle, (P)Seed, (T)Byun, (Z)NesTea, (T)Mvp,
(Z)Curious, (P)Creator, (P)HerO, (Z)Leenock, (T)MMA, (P)PartinG, (P)Oz, (Z)CoCa

for top 18.

MKP, DRG and MC too high, Seed and Byun far too low (why is Byun higher than Seed btw?).
NesTea probably too high as well as Squirtle.
Top 10 is doable but top 10-30 can only be random so kinda pointless I feel.

It's kinda weird that HerO has a top15 spot and SuperNoVa is outside your top30. If you look at GSL alone, SuperNoVa has done better every season besides 2012 S2. So HerO's okayish foreign tournament results over the last months push him into the top15? :x
