I don't like to call myself an artist. I've never had any formal art training, and what I do isn't traditionally recognized as art in common parlance. I'm at best, a "graphic designer:" a lower form being who toils away focusing on that which most people often overlook.
Nonetheless, like an artist, there is a sacred dogma that governs the designer's vision for his work. Protecting this vision requires what some may call "artistic integrity."
And yet, in developing a design in collaboration with others, one must occasionally sacrifice their ideals for the common good. Sometimes this vision is simply incompatible with the practical reality one is faced with.
I have recently had a run in with this "artistic integrity".
Now that the TSL4 site has launched, I can bring to light my shameful compromise.
I had always been a fan of fixed backgrounds... Something about them, perhaps the slight parallax effect it creates, makes a site feel more fluid and dynamic. However, while the "star" background I had initially chosen made the site pop, it did so in a way others did not find agreeable...
You see, I had a different vision in mind. It was my interpretation of "star" in "starleague" that led to this confusion.
I conceeded.
Nonetheless, this compromise has weighed heavily upon my soul, and I have decided to make my initial vision available to the world.
This is a greasemonkey script that will transform the site to its former glory.
For those without greasemonkey, or who don't care for longwinded prose, I have spoilered below a glimpse of the original and true design of the site... best viewed in 1920x1200:

The TSL site was worthless before; now, it's a dream come true. It's slick, easy to use, and has everything available without too much handle. I would definitely recommend to friends.

Could we get this tweak applied to teamliquid.net as a whole? There's a lot of blank space that is just begging to be filled with Emma Stone.

I think that this version of TL is much better

Chrome (newer chrome anyway) won't install user scripts not on the chrome store/extensions page... Meaning anyone using the dev build can't enjoy this without some extra tinkering (you can manually install). Just heads up.
