Hey guys DJ Wilma here, just wanting to get some things off my chest about ladder.
First off (irrelevent to the rant) Fantasy Flash + Show Spoiler +
So being a low leaguer that I am, the stupid things are what piss me off, just to clear that up now. So please don't bother responding, "thats what you get when you ladder," ect, this is just a rant, not looking for people to say, "stop being dumb or don't play the game anymore!"
1. The Chatty Ass Hats
I have found the best way to figure out if your opponent is cheesing you, or doing an early all in. All he has to do is say something like, "I hope we play to the best of our abilities" or anything really like that. This can catch a low leaguer player off guard, because he may get motivated to play a macro game, and be less ready for this all in that is coming, or maybe not look around for that proxy pylon he has just out of sight.
Simple way to fix this, don't bother being manner, don't say your gl hf, just block his in game chat right away. After all this allows you to focus better, and will give you less insentive to rage when he preemptively ggs, or tries to tell you why you lost to him (when 90% of the time they are just wrong).
2. Base Racing a Terran
Don't ever try it. Especially in PvT. At least until Blizzard makes it so that the buildings start to burn up when being flown away into the fringes of the map....
Actually why isn't that implemented? I mean I have never seen a pro game, where the Terran player hid his base in the corner, brought it back, and came back to win. It really just comes down to non Terran races losing, or ending up in a draw because of it. (Seriously, am I wrong about this?)
3. Non Ranked Ladder (Kinda...)
Okay so I know one can always just go into custom games, and hope someone plays them, but finding someone of your rank may not be easiest, but would a non ranked ladder be a viable idea?
I really only see this as viable for players in lower leagues, because when in higher leagues, you can usually find practise partners. Would the idea of a non ranked ladder be a bad idea though? It would still match you up based on your ranking on the normal ladder, but wouldn't affect your score for getting promoted.
I mean personally, when I am actually going through a session of laddering, trying to get promoted, I can get tilted easily, usually because I lose due to a bad decision, or mis-micro of my units. In doing this, I will be focused on the match up that I messed up (usually PvZ), so when I cue up again, and see its PvP, I tend to just quit and cue up again, because I don't want to waste my time on PvP. This is my personal reasoning behind having a non ranked ladder system to go along with the Ranked Ladder System.
What do you guys think of the idea?

They are implementing nonranked ladder in HOTS. It's casual play. Also if buildings burned up then it would be really difficult to save expansions and such.

No only once they are moved to the fringes, most games the Terrans just move the CC back to their more fortified base, I am talking about when the put a CC in the corner

I strongly agree with 1. I almost never chat in game except for "gg". I wouldn't mind if in game chat was removed from the game. I hope I can some day at least toggle it off.
I don't mind base racing a terran :p
I think non ranked ladder would make ranked ladder a bit less active. Other than that I don't see anything bad with it. On the other hand the need for such a thing is only inside your head. I don't know if there's a real reason to have a non ranked ladder.

Base racing a terran is really really really really really really really really good in PvT, it's one of the main reasons that I HATE TvP.
You have warpgate to warp in relatively big armies safely with your bank and income. His reinforcements pop out and die. You have high temp back in your main to fuck him up. You have sentry back in your ramp to ff it. You can just walk into his base put some units in there and thats it....all his reinforce will insta die and he is out of the game. Then just take the main bulk of your army back to your own base and finish off whats left of his army after the HT you warped in behind your mineral line storm him.
I guarantee a baserace should always go amazing for YOU as a protoss, so if you lost you probably just had a third of his supply or have no idea what you're doing.
PvP isn't a waste of your time. Practice it, and you could get better.
Unranked ladder is a really dumb idea, because if people are practicing on that, ranked ladder will become a hyper competitive cheese fest elitist thing where all anyone looks at is your ladder rank because its now considered the 100% mark of your skill since you can do everything that isn't putting 100% effort into winning in unranked ladder.
Really dumb idea.
And you're really complaining that people are nice to you on ladder and it makes you play really greedy? What the fuck? That's your problem. If you say glhf and dont block them ingame then you get to make a metagame read from what they say. I.E: Above diamond level 90% of people who don't say glhf are cheesing you.

That would be weird. People whine about buildings doing that but it doesnt really affect normal play at all. A scenario where you are forced to draw like that is a scenario where you baseraced poorly.

I think the mentality in the balance behind Terrans ability to float buildings lies in the fact that their structures cost money to restore health; Protoss get shields back free, and Zerg slowly restore the whole of their hitpoints.
The versatility between the three races building mechanics have always been really neat to me :D

And I get that they should have the ability to float, but i think they need to make map changes that don't allow them to hide buildings in the corner, if anything it just makes games longer for those who dont want to quit

Well in this game in particular, I did play badly, thought I had a probe with my army, didn't, otherwise I would have won QQ

See another point towards why I can't wait for that casual play from HOTS, wanted to play two nice games on ladder while i break from studying, lost the first one, auto quited the second one cuz it was PvP and 80% i wont get a macro game out of PvP >.>

If Im not mistaken HOTS will have a non ranked ladder.
Itll still be filled with the same crap tho

But anyways, the way I see it, this is frowned upon if not punished at most tournaments. I don't know if this has ever happened to me on ladder, maybe one or two times. How often is this a problem for you O_O? I don't there is any reason that this mechanic be taken away or nerfed from Terrans  They already have enough to cry about.
