Were you still in your probationary period? If you were than there's probably nothing you can do. Either way it sucks.

As long as you have a girlfriend, even if you can't see her, life isn't that bad. Inspirational Example: TotalBiscuit and his wife didn't see each other for IIRC almost 5 years and everything turned out great in the end.
