Thoughts on contributing to esport[Graphic Design]

So watching the Liquid Rising documentary made me realize how awesome of a team TeamLiquid really is, and how great it would be to be a part of that.

That also made me quite sad, because I was quite close to becoming a part of TeamLiquid. Not a very important part of the team.. but still a part of it. I dont know if you guys remember, but a while back TeamLiquid had a contest to find a new graphic designer. I participated in this contest, and got very deep into it. Due to stupidity, poor prioritizing, and not very much time, I never got to deliver the task that would decide whether or not I got hired as a graphic designer for TL. That is something I regret immensely. I'm not saying I would get hired, because i probably wouldnt, but then I would know that I gave it my all. Now i can't say that.

After watching the documentary, I started thinking about what it would be like to be a part of the team, and contribute to the esport scene through TL. That's why I made this post. After watching 'Liquid Rising', I feel like I have to do something to contribute to the scene. Esports have given me so much joy, and good memories, that I want to give something back. Even if just by a little bit.

I would therefore like to use this post as an offer to anyone who like my work (check blog history), a helping hand. Big help or small help - send me a PM or post here, and I'll do my best to help you out as best I can.

When I exported the Jangbi/Fantasy pic from PDF to JPG the text got a little messy, but I guess thats okay.

I know how you feel and what you mean. Being able to contribute myself in many forms over the years to something that has been a big part of my life has been very rewarding, and there is still a sense of trying to contribute something for the community.

In your case, you can go from user requests for banners, overlays, and the like, or even start producing certain wallpapers that people may enjoy. You can even follow that up with custom graphics for showmatches, etc... Produce quality work with your passion, and maybe you'll eventually be welcomed into a team atmosphere.

Yeah, I just want to give something back, you know. This post unfortunately got way fewer hits than the others i made. But the offer still stands to whoever want, or need, a helping hand. Thanks for the kind words

Im looking at getting into esports and was thinking of taking journalism classes and graphic design classes and even some video editing for montages. What type of Graphic Design classes should I look at?

I honestly have no idea of what type of graphic design classes you should look at. I havn't taken any graphic design classes myself, so I wouldn't know what to look at. That being said, I am going to start studying "Interactive design" the coming fall. In my study we will focus on designing mostly web-related stuff. Everything from banner adds to full websites and interfaces. We will also learn some basic programming.

I guess you should study whatever you think look the most interesting. I have no specific classes, or any schools (or such) to reccomend, as I don't have any experience on the matter.

What I would advice though, is to try to keep the focus as narrow as possible. Try to perfect one subject, instead of being great in four. Thats just my preference though.
