I know Swedishs are quite active on TL so I'm asking there for some help.

I'm going to Stockholm at the beginning of June for around 10 days, what would you guys recommend me to visit/see ?
Are there some Swedish manners I should be very careful about ?

Also, not really linked but, is there some Swedish music you'd recommend to someone who doesn't know the scene ?

Thanks for your help !

In Hungry Hungry Hippos there are no such constraints—one can constantly attempt to collect marbles with one’s hippo, limited only by one’s hippo-levering capabilities.

I think you have to be more specific.
Are you looking for sightseeing, partying etc? Also what kind of music are you interested in?

As for manners, just behave like you do in France and it'll turn out ok

Now that we got music ut of the way, remember to buy a shitton of tobacco and beer (if you want it ofc), swedes are often offended if "outlanders" come to their country and don't buy their cheap stuff. Take a peek in "Teknik-Magasinet" they've got all sorts of awesome stuff (seriously, they've got everything), go to a party, go get tanned and refer to this video for language help

Watch out for this guy though, he was last spotted in the "ghetto" of Malmö, but you never know!

He's going to make chaos to you!

Good luck

Obviously this is a joke, except Teknikmagasinet, you should check that place out

The only thing I can think of right now is... visit Inferno Online. The gamer's heaven. A lot of gaming happens there (although it's mainly CS1.6)

Mostly sigthseeing I want to discover the city and the culture so I'd probably do whatever as long as it's great.
Like, I've bought a guide for the city which repetories most museums and histirocal monument and stuff but I'm asking here for some things that are not written in guides and that people living here enjoy a lot.
Also, I've read that the 6th June is a National day, is it fun and interesting or just boring ?

Music huh, rock, electro, jazz... I listen a lot of things. I'd like to discover some Swedish classics. I'm not very fond of metal tho, I know you vikings are good at it.

I'll see for Teknikmagasinet and Inferno Online, seems interesting.

Stockholm is really a city to discover by foot. Södermalm and Djurgården are full of green areas which show some of the beauty that is available here.

http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-UmFGckMzOY4/T3zEpJVA35I/AAAAAAAAEdw/mX2pOy2ov9E/s1600/IMG_0576.JPG

Shows the view from stadsgården on the heart of the city. Regarding entertainment, I prefer Södermalm for nightlife since it holds a more diverse sort of people. Other than that ,Gröna Lund the amusement park might be worthwhile visiting. Be sure to check what concerts might be available, I know that lenny kravitz is playing there on the 12th of june for example.

If you want a piece of culture, I advice the Vasa Museum, which is centered around the swedish warship from the 17th century that sank during its maiden voyage. It is located on Djurgården which, again, makes a great walk.

Swedes are notoriously cold at first glance, but once you strike up a conversation after a beer, they will warm up.

I might add that we have a rather big barcraft community, make sure to enquire if there are any events scheduled at that time if you want to meet someone likeminded.

Yeah Old Town (Gamla Stan), The Vasa Museum, Södermalm, and Djurgården are pretty cool things to visit.
If you like nature take a day trip out into the archipelago and / or go to Tyresta National Park. Kinda different but both are very beautiful in their own ways.
If you want you can do the whole Millennium trilogy sightseeing thing.
One of the best live clubs in Stockholm is Debaser http://www.debaser.se/kalender/stockholm/

And we don't really celebrate our national day...but there might be something in Kungsträdgården on that day.

There are some places that are really great to get some cool views of the city especially on Södermalm as it's higher than the other "islands" (for example Västerbron, Skinnarviksparken / Skinnarviksberget, Monteliusvägen, Katarinahissen, Katarinavägen are some great vantage points to see the views of Stockholm, not sure if Kaknästornet is still open if it is that's on Norra Djurgården and also provides great vistas)

Go walk into the city centre and around all the islands. It's such a beautiful place. All the riversides are amazing.

Cultural life is awesome. Very good museums, clubs, concert halls, etc etc etc etc...

Seems kinda surprising to me, it's not a very strong symbol for you ?
I don't really care about ours but it's not how the majority of french people think.

There's like three main reason for this I believe. Firstly we have a really splintered national self image. Things like how we behave socially then being "Swedish" is associated with being boring, introvert and not very open to talking to strangers. Where as being "continental" is seen as being the positive outgoing, fun loving and very sociable.
What we do take pride in is Swedish engineering, industrial goods, and agricultural products.

Secondly we have not had any wars for 200 years (Napoleonic wars was the last I believe). So fighting for our country has not happened within living memory for a very very long time. The territories today considered Sweden has not been occupied for even longer.

Thirdly being very nationalistic is seen as being linked to being xenophobic. Besides sporting events the Swedish flag is usually only shown on flag poles or as a symbol for racists.

So even on our national day there's not that much displayed pride of our nation not even in just having festivities and celebrate this great nation, probably because we (as a society) take our stability and independence for granted. But some 1st and 2nd generation Swedes does not seem to have these inhibitions and like to celebrate the national day more freely and sincerely than people with a long Swedish lineage. If you want to see swedes go crazy with national pride it's usually tied to victories in international football tournaments (and to a lesser degree ice hockey, but usually because the weather is worse when ice hockey championships are played)

I did find this though if you've planned to visit Skansen this might be a good day for it. http://www.skansen.se/en/aktivitet/swedish-national-day
