Surely it was time to start putting in some serious game-time. Provided that the 256Kbps line I am on is working along. Yes folks it's the tale of an avid SC2 and Teamliquid fan from the dark recesses of Southern - Africa, the country that time (when I say time I mean to say the modern application of feasable, productive, bankable and advancing telecommunications) forgot. Bottomline is that if you want good net connectivity (By good I also mean the inclusion of stable) you're going to have to sell an organ on the blackmarket to afford it. Hell the city I live in goes without power or water for weeks at a time sometimes. So telecoms probably isn't very high on the to-do list.
Enough of this frivolity.
I started my blog with good intentions in mind and many ideas in my brane (copyrighted) ... ok seriously enough. I started this to get some of the S.A players to get into contact with me and to learn as much as possible from whomever wishes to grace me with their know-how and elbow greases. As a "older, loser type" person I do not have many friends IRL (Integral Rights Litigation) adding on to that I also do not have a TV so I still basically think the world is flat and that Bill Clinton is still president of the American Federation. So knowledge is something which I very selectively seek out and trust. I believe everyone should...
Back to reality:
I have been partaking in SC2 for almost a year now and I must say that I truly enjoy the game. I did complete the campaign for SC1 years and years ago though (Think I was around 16 or so at the time)
Problem is that I cannot help but suck at it at the moment. I've read many articles and tried many things... Only to find that they don't work in Real - Time or that I fail to execute them in a RTS setting, coupled with that I also haven't the best micro at the moment as my armies are dispatched with rather easily. This it seems is something that comes with practice only. Avid and committed practice is the only way of getting it done. I will however add the following and please comment if you disagree...
If you find yourself in the bronze league you should have no illusions as to what it means. I believe that I have faced enough of the Top 8 bracket to be entitled to share... You will, around 80% of the time, find yourself ordering extra cheese with that matchup. I have been worker rushed, I have been bunker rushed, I have been all-inned and cannon rushed in mostly all of the said matches. Some will argue that it is of my inability to cope (Or as the hardcore will say: You sucks) with those situations effectively. I mainly find myself with a Hatch first and a spine crawler only to be grilled with cheese. Whatever the reason for my losses I feel I must add that I enjoy it nonetheless. Not losing, I hate that, but I enjoy the fact that it is possible to do something like that and topple an economy or the match for that matter. It does add a lot of variety to the game. Some will argue that it is horrid and noobish, but hey... to each their own.
What really bothers me is that these guys seem to have been practicing this to an extreme extent and I am truly struggling to find a way past it. I do however see wins coming from fast roach expand or whenever a player decides to expand first (I mainly win other zerg players), but I like to alternate my play a lot and try never to have any plans before hand. I use my scout to decide where I'm going, but my scout usually misses a barracks around the nook in my natural only to have marauders pump into my base... I really want to improve my game and will keep on trucking no matter what the situation. I feel that I just had to share my experiences with however is bored and wants to effectively waste some time by reading this, and with those who would like to share their experiences.
Thanks for tuning in kids and thanks TL for providing me with the ability to blog, and thanks to jeemzuz and bob marley.
