How well do you get out of the shower? No no, this isn't a euphemism for some grander obstacle in the journey of life. I really do mean, how quickly do you get out of the shower in the morning? I personally have great trouble getting out of the shower quickly, particularly on a chilly morning. There's an unmistakeable, soothing effect that comes from the streams of hot water striking the skin. The sensation is mesmerizing and addicting; I'm sure there's all sorts of brain chemicals being produced. In a way, it's like a drug. Is it so bad to spend an extra five minute in the shower, just nebulously pondering random thoughts? Personally, I don't think it's time poorly spent. After all, it's one of the places I'm most likely to come up with random thoughts to write in this blog, as you're obviously seeing today. Come to think of it, those five minutes might be some of the most intellectually productive five minutes I have in the day. But while the actual act of a prolonged stay in the water basin isn't so bad, the overarching concept of succumbing to the pleasure of the shower is somewhat troubling. While perhaps not as dire in nature, its character seems similar to falling prey to the typical hedonistic trappings of sex, drugs, and other worldly pleasures. A more apt comparison might be with the unmistakable pleasure of staying in bed on a weekend. In any case, the distinction seems to be one of degree, rather than of their nature. At least at the surface level, all these acts can be categorized as the human ego defeated by the seduction of our senses. What can we learn from all this wordplay? That I enjoy thinking deeply, critically, and seriously about utter nonsense. Thanks for allowing me to indulge in mental fornification. I hope you have a nice day today.

My time in the shower with my eyes closed, drowned in the deepest of thought, and water (wastefully) draping my chiseled body-- it's the best time of the day.

Showering feels nice, but remember the environment yo  Only so much fresh water.

It takes me about 5 minutes to wash my hair and clean my body...
and then I require at least 15 minutes more (preferably as much time as possible... whenever I run out of hot water!) to just... think. To reflect. To mull over ideas, hypotheticals, conversations in my head. Alone time. It's amazing. I need it.
And then I have to get out of the shower x.x Brrrr...

I'm like a soldier on a mission. I Get in there just as the temperature shifts from icy cold to bareable. Soak, soap up, rinse, in a couple of mins. Towel up, brush teeth, deodorant, dry, get dressed. Rush to computer, (it's already on), Open browser (Facebook+twitter pinned as app tabs), Check TL, then those two. Read more TL stuff, [an hour later], shit.. late for work, rush out the door. Did I even do anything to my hair? Can't remember, no time...
Every.single.morning.

I usually take care of 4 essentials: Armpits, asshole, crotch, and teeth. In and out 4-5 minutes.
That said, I'm a huge fan of long hot showers when hungover.

I feel like i'm wasting a huge amount of water every time i shower in the morning. I spend so much time under the hot water it's crazy. I've been late to class more than once just because I stayed in the shower too long :x

I usually take about 15 minutes to shower in the morning, but I'm pretty sure I can cut it down to less than 10 if I didn't have to go into meditation mode under the warmth of hot water. I don't have the cold bathroom excuse either, because my condo is overall pretty dam warm anyway...

My showers come in two varieties: Short, and really fucking long.
Short is a two minute abuse of my body with hot water and soap and clean.
Long is...a while. And most of it involves just standing with the water cascading over me.
People like water. We came from it. It's like a womb.

I take like 30 minute showers all the time, which is usually twice a day. I think I love hot water a little too much... It doesn't help that the hot water tank for my unit is massive and never runs out

I love how my shower runs out of warm water in about 15 minutes. Prevents me from staying in any longer.
I really love my shower time would stay in till I get wrinckly fingers if it wouldnt run out. I however need a good water pressure. I hate showers with a crappy slow stream of water.

Depending on your thoughts on religion, hedonistic pleasure may be the only thing worth seeking in life. The search to make the present as enjoyable as possible is in my opinion the best way to live. Therefore, things like sex, sleep in on weekends, shower for 30 minutes or just chillin all the time is a great way to spend your time as long as you are enjoying the time yourself. And those long showers just act as pure enjoyment in the moment. With your mind and the drops swirling around and you feel a new connection with yourself.
I have free water in my apartment, and alot of time on my hands so i sometimes shower 30 minutes. The warm water is great to feeeel, like you say. ITs a drug :D

This immediately made me think of that episode of Seinfeld where Kramer gets the garbage disposal installed in his shower.
Living in the upper midwest, I'm all too familiar with freezing to death when coming out of the shower. Worst part of winter

I know a couple companies make shower radios and water proof ipod docks for in the shower. I bet they make clocks too.
If anyone ever makes a water proof tablet that can stream video, I would probably never leave the shower

If I have a hangover its a 20 minute shower, if not Its probably less than 5 minutes; habit picked up from basic training lol...

Much like bed in the morning, the main reason to stay in the shower is warmth. All mammals enjoy warmth - we can see it in our household pets, the way cats like to sleep on air vents or TVs. If you take a cooler shower than normal, you won't be enticed to stay in as long... Doesn't have to be cold, it just can't be that perfectly comfortable warm.
This is also why its good to put an alarm clock far away from your bed - you need to deny yourself the warmth to wake up.

I actually read this related psychology today article a while back on how lonely people tend to take longer hot showers than people who are not lonely. They postulated that the physical warmth you feel from the hot water replaces the physical warmth you'd get in an intimate relationship with someone.

I love my shower time. I take a shower right after work tho. (I work construction/maintenance)
So i usually go till the hot water runs out. Time well spent imo
