While I do think that Top Gun is not a fantastic movie, it is not the worst movie ever. Why? Because the film gives us some of the greatest lines in film history, lines that we quote today.
In case you forgot, I've created a list for you:
"Talk to me Goose."
"Yeee-haw Jester's Dead"
"That's right...Iceman... I am dangerous."
And here is the follow up to being dangerous.
Mr. Bitter, I love it when you cast with your magnet friendly co-caster Rotterdam, but you do not get to insult Top Gun by calling it the worst film of all time. Especially since Episode I was re-released..in 3D.
I support this, to the young guys of this forum and i'm only 28 this film was important to a generation.
It might not be the best movie ever, you can even say it's bad but don't ever call it the worst movie ever.. come on? worst...
In my opinion it is a great movie, the action scenes lack some fire and special effects now but if you think it's cheasy it's because it's been copied to death...
I forgive you Mr.Bitter but you should apologize ;D

......................................... that is sad in multiple ways I wouldn't say Top Gun is a great movie either but I definitely think it's good. lol

3D is bad, but Top Gun in 3D ? Yeah that would be really the worst rework of a film.
I only love top gun because of the NES game i was playing when i was a kid. I never finished the second stage and it took me month to land the plane correctly on the first one.
6.6 on IMDB, which without the 80s nostalgia bonus is more like a 5.6, and since val kilmer is in it, let's call it a straight 4.6. and 4.6 movies aren't good
oh, also, it's american fascist propaganda, so let's make it a 3.6. not so far off from gigli!

Also as someone pointed out, Episode I 3D, it hurtz!
Did you know on the USS Midway in San Diego they play clips of Top Gun and have Danger Zone playing? Its near the flight simulators too. After getting pumped up from the awesomeness, my brother and I went on the flight simulators and then proceeded to break it. And they gave us a free ride since it broke.

LOL top gun is american facist propaganda? LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL
days of thunder was top gun with cars (or other way around cant remember wich came first ^^^ almost the same plot but with cars... rival almost died instead or "partner" dieing
okay seriously how can you be a boy growing up and not like a movie about FIGHTER JETS? my parents taped over the sex scene with tv commercials and i did not give a fuck, all the romance scenes were the boring parts anyway. didn't understand the plot, didn't even understand English at that age, but still watched the movie until the first two copies broke (our VCR ate away at the black tape) now got a third copy on my computer

oh god the funny, it hurts.
Well, the facism part is laughable but it was HUGE propaganda for the Navy.
Top Gun is great. End of story. Also has one of the best/worst drinking games I know associated with it. The game is: Drink whenever there is a homosexual innuendo. What qualifies is left entirely up to the crowd. Hence it being the best or worst game ever. Sometimes its a great time, sometimes its everyone blacks out in the first hour.
Anyone here arguing for worst movie and isn't mentioning Troll 2 needs to just stop now. Go "watch" Troll 2 or see some clips on youtube and you will quickly come around to my side on this one.

I mean Mr. Bitter, how can you not love the synthesizer work by Harold Faltmeyer, the opening scene on the USS Enterprise, and why won't you be my wingman?

It's basically the same fucking movie.
It was Top Gun.
Which by the way is awesome. I used to watch it when i was like 3, in english, not understanding a single fucking word, because f14's are that badass lol.
Wait just a fucking minute, first of all Top Gun is awesome and I am totally comfortable with all the steamy, small towelled shower scenes (Wait, what? No one was talking about them?) but to the come along and say Dark Crystal is bad! Oh the humanity.
If you want to watch something that's bad try dipping in to "Ultramarines : A Warhammer 40000 Movie". Then ye shall know the feeling of shattered hopes, a despoiled childhood and the true power of the dark si-wait, sorry. Got carried away.
Have to avoid subconsciously maxing my car as I drive past Miramar sometimes. Top Gun (the school) isn't in San Diego anymore though, and the F-14's have long since been retired.
WTF Bitter! I've lost all respect to you now. Top Gun is the GREATEST movie ever. How can any self-respecting young adult male say they do not like fighter jets. There's not a single that isn't great in the movie. Okay maybe the romantic stuff but I always skip it anyway. The soundtrack is great, the jokes are great and it has frigging fighter jets in it! I still watch it at least like 2-3 times a year and I own it on DVD, HD DVD and Blu-ray.

You sir lead a deprived life. I encourage you to watch the film, it is very exciting. Mr. Bitter's opinion of the film was not supported by the wonderful TL community. It will be re-released in 3D later this year so bring a date.
