I have always been hesitant to tell anyone on TL my league. See starcraft 2, like BW, is full of elitists. I have no problem with this because there's no shame in being an elitist if you have the skills to back it up. But it does make me scared to post up my league on the forums for fear of my opinion being regarded as utter trash.
Come to think of it, my opinions in the past have often been utter trash. And I can see that in the opinion of a GM, BSGPD idea of strategy is limited by their mechanics. Eg: A low level player may think that marines are imba because his opponent just sniped his collosi with a bunch of marines but in reality the terran had triple his supply and a wicked flank. Poor mechanics can f*ck up your gamesense.
Anyway enough procrastinating, I'm going to bite the bullet and reveal to you just how much of a noob I am.
I'm a platinum scrub.
On the SEA server.
So not only am I a scrub but I'm also a scrub on the scrubbiest server around. I must be the NA equivalent of a bronzie right?
RIGHT?
Nope.
Today was my first day in a NA clan. I trained against other plats and I SLAUGHTERED them. It felt way too easy. So I thought to myself "Is this really the quality of platinum league in NA?"
So for the first time ever I laddered on the north american server. 5 EZ PZ lemon-squeezy wins later I got placed into diamond.
So there may be a few reasons why I got placed into diamond: 1. I am indeed a platinum scrub but I got lucky. (hey 5 matches isn't really statistically significant anyway) 2. I am diamond but the SEA server just hasn't promoted me yet 3.Battlenet is correct about my skill level on both servers but plat sea=diamond na
I'm going to settle for the last little inference and bask in my newfound jingoistic pride. >:D

Ladders measure relative skill not absolute skill.

3 sounds about right. Masters toss easily on NA, still hoping to get promoted from diamond on sea

I feel like in plat nothing is solidified... I mean you see silvers beating plats on occasion, golds taking a game off diamonds... eh there skill level seems so jumbled.
|
goona go with 1, not enough games played.

When I played on both frequently I was diamond on both. I think their mostly the same level but if I had to pick a better one I'd say SEA. Of course for high master tp grand master it would be different. I would guess SEA < NA < EU < KR. I'd say thats mainly because for the top SEA players NA is free so might as well go there for larger server population and KR is quite close too.

quite simple. The NA server has more players so it is easier to get promoted in a higher league.

I'm EU plat and there's no way a silver would beat me in a standard game, though you can of course not account for everything. I get embaressed as hell when I lose to gold players, even if they are top 8 in their division, if I lost to a silver in a macro game, I'd probably never play the game again.
Plat players might be scrubs, but there's a massive difference between being a scrub in plat and being a complete n00b in silver.

No idea, I just don't notice a difference in the skill level T_T

On the contrary I think BW has only elitists left now.

We see what you did there
@OP Yep, when I was top eight diamond in SEA for ages, I decided to play some NA, 20 games later I was mid masters. My opinion - which I've stated before and been slammed for - is that NA has a larger sample of players. As such, their lower (bronze - low masters) leagues are worse than their equivalent SEA leagues, but their top masters/pros are better than the SEA equivalents. Though of course, now having spent more time on sc2sea I would revert my opinion of all pros in NA being better than SEA xD Pig/Mafia/jazbas etc. hwaiting!
Again, just my opinion.

lol that's like D- on Iccup
|
When i was Bronze on the SEA server, i was Gold on the US. I think people under estimate the level of skill on SEA
|
From my experience on the 4 main servers (EU US SEA KR)
KR high diamonds/low masters = GM on SEA, GM/high masters on NA, and masters on EU KR GM and Masters are GM everywhere else EU > NA except in some GM levels. SEA high Diamonds > NA low masters EU Mid masters > GM's on SEA
This is excluding anything above 50GM since the level and number of players is fewer and more varied.
|
I would bet anything that NA has a significant amount of more players that bought the game played >20 games and quit than any other region. This is why masters is watered down in comparison to other regions
