I recently just came out of the hospital(Original Blog Here: http://www.teamliquid.net/blogs/viewblog.php?id=300458) and basically the worst thing that could of happened, happened to me.

My laptop i use for sc2 is breaking . It can't support the screen anymore and it appears the screen itself because it cannot hold itself up is also prying the main section of the laptop up when i open the screen (possibly causing more damage). Also its really laggy anyway for sc2 (10-20 fps) which doesnt make things nice either. So of course i'm extremely sad i really wanted to use this time recovering to get back into sc2 but i'm at another standstill yet again.

I was wondering because i read a lot on South Korean gaming. Is there alot of PC bangs in the US and are they popular? Would it be worth it to find a PC bang and go to it and how much would it cost?

I live in NYC atm and i'm extremely interested until i can save up for a gaming computer when i get a job. I just want to practice =/ but idk if it would even be worth it

Any gamers have any experience doing this? is it worth it?

Thanks in advance

I'm sure there are internet cafes in the mainland US. There are a few in Hawaii, so it's guaranteed you have some up in NYC.

It's nice if you need to practice or want to play with buddies for a while.

I'm not sure how much it'll be maybe $3-6 per hour?

They usually have good internet and good computers, so it'll be worth it if you want a smooth SC2 experience.

I played in PC bangs in Korea.. super fun.

edit: sorry, the search doesn't seem to do anything

Internet cafes as far as I know are a lot more expensive than Korea.
I could be wrong though, but I pay wildly here in Montreal :/

You can get $1/hr rates with membership at a shitload of Brooklyn cafes, but I have never found that to be true for anything in Queens and especially not in non-Chinatown Manhattan :/

net cafes here range in southern california from $2-6. it's not bad on the wallet but very rare to find sc2 players with all the league of legends going on.

We have LAN centers that usually have computers, some cost $4 an hour, or like $20 all day pass. Usually we have sc2 lans at Howies Game Shack in arizona.

There are pc bangs/internet cafes in the US. Definitely going to more expensive than in Asia unfortunately (its like 3 bucks for 6 hours in Taiwan). I haven't been to one in US since probably 4 years ago and it was relatively small with most of the people running WoW Raids together.

What part of NYC do you live?
If you live in the city, there should be pc bangs on 42nd street.
If you live in queens, there are bunch of pc bangs in flushing for relatively cheap if you stay there long. Cyber Craft is probably the most expensive out of all pc bangs but i heard you can run sc2 on ultra there

there are a couple lan cafes in washington but my god they are expensive. rip off imo unless it is a special occasion. in korea i pay as low as 50 cents for an hour and 6 bucks for a whole day.

OP, I've had the same problem with my old laptop: the screen, well, broke. I can only see 1/3 of the whole thing, so I've connected it up to the display from and older computer (with RGB cable) and now it works fine, cheaper than PC bang (though inferior computer).

We just had a Dave and Busters meetup last Wednesday NYC Meetup #4. We also have Cybercraft LANs which take place in Flushing. Watch the TL Community subsection for future events.
