So excited i'm finally getting out today maybe. Its been terrible i haven't touched sc2 in so long but that won't slow me down. Its time to hit Grandmaster when i'm back. Was at Masters but i couldn't play due to my illness it was too much pain.
So excited to finally play again! going to be training hardcore after this weekend.

Edit - What happened was i had appendicitis around in November. It bursted and i was in the hospital for about a week while they cleaned it up. Apparently some of the bacteria was left and came together and formed a siist (idk how to spell it) and it went and attacked / Attached itself to my liver. So i've been down and out for a month but i'm going to be back
Edit 2 - Everyone please make sure you are covered by insurance. 33,000 hospital bills aren't fun.

Now now, the major portions of Obamacare don't come into effect until 2014. And it's called a cyst by the way. In any event, grats on having them fix you up.

Thanks xivsa

Things like this make me even more gladder that I live in Canada. You're alive and that's what counts, though! Best of luck sir.
|
33000? Holy shit! How is this even possible.
Glad you`re ok, I had complications after appendicitis when I was younger and understand what you went through.
edit: Out of curiosity - what happens if you dont pay this money?
|
you'll make another 33k but you wont get another life! Now go own sc2
|
I wish i was in Canada too.
@mdb Nothing however you will have NO credit (credit card companies will never accept you) They will freeze your bank account if you have any money (you can have this stopped) and overall they will try to work deals to lower the costs. I'm sure other stuff would happen too.
however i'm getting it taken care of because i am going back on insurance (thankfully i got accepted) but if i wasn't accepted i would literally have to declare bankruptcy which would mean i would most likely lose my apartment and be with terrible credit for 10-20 years until i can fix all of this.
Don't get sick people! and if you do make sure you have insurance. This isn't cheap!
Thanks again!

Did you have any symptoms before it burst? What I mean by that is because I just finished my last semester, ate terrible, slept terrible. Was actually kind of scared a few times that a few organs felt like they were going to burst. Do you eat right? Did they explain at all why it burst? Is it something that's completely random or what?
When it burst how bad was the pain and how did you get to the hospital or whatever?
Thanks, good to hear your okay.
|
Holy crap, that sucks. It's great to see you handling it so well though!
Good luck, man!

@Nizzy By what i hear its completely random and i believe its the hospital's fault.
I was living in Texas at the time of my burst. I lived in my girlfriend's parents house (house full of mexicans). For a whole night and half a day i had stomach cramps and insane puking. Pain to the point where i was screaming at the top of my lungs at different points. Everyone in the household told me its prolly poisoning from something i ate (made sense i had all the symptoms except diarrhea) .
I realized the next day. It wasn't getting better, It was getting worse and i was afraid i was going to die. So we rushed to the hospital and as i got there i passed out because of the pain. According to them it was appendicitis but as far as i know its completely random when it gets infected or enflamed to burst. So they kept me there overnight and were to operate in the morning.
So i was in pain a whole other night (TERRIBLE, TERRIBLE pain omg) as they operated apparently it has been "Leaking" Which basically means it fucking burst and if you didn't know the appendicitis holds like all this goop thats really bad for you if it leaks. So i was in the hospital for a week while they tried to drain it out.
I think moral of the story is. If you are in pain and you think its alot. Don't question it, go to the hospital Idk when it may have bursted it could of bursted while i was waiting around a whole night thinking it was food poisoning or it could of bursted when the doctors thought i was ok and left me overnight.
Either way just go. ASAP

Thanks for all the detail man. Yeah I would be scared that I was going to die. I was on a good 18-month stretch of not really taking care of myself as much as I should. Mainly because I was so busy with school/work and didn't have time to eat and sleep right. Plus computer gaming ^_^. I think puking is a key sign of something is wrong as well.
Hope you have a full recovery.
|
I feel for you man, when I was younger I had chronic stomach pains (like every 3 months I would have pains that kept me up all night puking). Its seriously one of the worst pains to have, and my parents were always worried I might have appendicitis. From what I remember aside from stomach pains and vomiting, one of your legs also gets numb or turns black or something as a sign. I'm glad you are feeling better though, having your appendix explode is a serious thing, I'm sorry about your wallet though.
|
Sometimes i'm actually happy to live in a country wheres free health-care. Damn, 33 fucking grand.
Best of luck and welcome back!
|
I also had appendicitis when I was younger and it really sucked, I couldn't get keyhole surgery so they had to cut me right open ;p the worst part is after you get the operation you have to learn how to walk again because you haven't moved in 2 weeks straight >.<
33 grand holy shit. NHS FTW! £0
|
Yeah i couldn't walk or breathe correctly for about 2-3 weeks.
Thanks everyone

It's funny that you see it this way. I had appendicits in summer 2010 and it nearly got really bad because I was so fed up with work. I had pains in my lower stomach when moving in a certain way, plus a really "creeping upwards" pain while pissing, so I decided to go see my doctor. The doctor pushed around a bit on my stomach and took some blood to test it (to check for white blood cells); however, he couldn't tell if it was appendicits or some urinal infection (which I thought because of the pain while taking a leak), and my white blood cell concentration was a bit higher than usual but still normal. This was on monday. I had a really important seminar and a talk to give on friday, so I basically slept only 4 hours per night and worked my ass off, and obviously forgot about the pain. On friday I gave my talk, fell into bed completely exhausted afterwards, wake up in the evening - pain is back. Over the weekend it became really bad, but I still had an exam on tuesday.. so I show up at the university on monday (I had to be there for my office hours also), but I'm really in pain, had to open the button on my jeans and stuff.. I decide it's too much, go to the doctor again. He touches my stomach, I tell you.. I nearly blacked out. I was about to fall from the couch there, seriously, worst pain ever. Doctor looks at me pretty worried and tells me to fucking get to the hospital. I grab my stuff, to the hospital, doctor there comes, tries to touch my stomach - I nearly hit him. He decides I'm really in pain and gets some blood off me and sends me to a patient room, they were going to keep me in over night for surveillance anyway. That's about 5pm. 5.30pm some nurse and the doctor arrive and tell me I'm going to get cut open at 6pm and better get ready. Operation goes about 2 and a half hours, next thing I know is me waking up in the wake up room (huh .. :>) with some bloody bag attached to my stomach. Long story short, the chief surgeon meets me the next morning (6 am, fucking freaks) and tells me basically "ah, you're the guy with the appendix. Nice to meet you, I've only seen your stomach yet" and that I was really close to having a real big problem. Turns out my appendix was already about to burst through my stomach wall. He asked me if I hadn't had REAL fucking pain already for quite some time... I probably had, but I didn't notice :/ They were able to operate me endoscopically (keyhole technique), but barely, and mostly only because my appendix was already so fucked up that they managed to pull it out in small pieces through the small holes. That reads "necrotiating appendix" (or something like that..) in the paper they give you when they let you go home, by the way. Due to the keyhole technique, I was able to leave the hospital after 5 days (saturday). Doctor said he never met a guy with such a destroyed appendix who was able to leave in such short time. Seems like I was really lucky.
So, listen to your body man.
Sorry for strange constructions/wording, I'm obviously not a native speaker.

quite the story hns i'm really glad you made it out in good shape after 5 days. You obviously are a busy person and worked really hard through it. Glad you didnt have any problems.
But its true if your in super pain please go to the hospital lol
never making that mistake again. Jeez

Congratulations on getting better and good luck in the future!
Also, holy shit 33k is a ton of money. Hope that works out for you as well.

Ouch that sucks. I had an appendicitus that blew up inside me to when I was in 6'th grade which was like 8 years ago. Was in the hospital for a week but didn't have the problem you had with bacteria xD. cost 7,000 dollars.
I remember not being able to lay on my side/run or anything for like a month because my side still hurt. Glad to see everything went ok other then the infection and 33,000$ bills xD
|
@Blade When the appendictis blows up theres always a small chance stuff like this happens in my case i got that small percent chance. You were the lucky one which is good
I should be ok though and hopfully be able to clear the 33,000+ bills.
Wish i lived in Europe or Canada right now though.

You'd never get into Canada now, we only want immigrants for their organs

Best of luck man! Good luck getting to GM! wow that bill... Im glad my insurance covers alot of things and its cheap here.

and when you came out... everyone was dead... you searched around and found a group of people bending down on the ground. you went over to ask them what was going on when they turned around and attacked you!!!. you had to kill them, it was self defense... but whats this!? these people look rotted how is this possible?!? how can they move. OMG the man you thought u killed is getting up.
what did you wake up to....

The appendix is the lymphytic tissue in your intestine - so yeah, it does, normally to keep the rest of your bowels clean. But seriously - what the heck did they do to need a whole week to get it all out?! I once worked in the surgical ward and they always wanted to have that dirt (that stuff like pus and blood and necrotic tissue) out of your stomach as quickly as possible to avoid an even more horrible inflammation.
@ hns
Long story short, the chief surgeon meets me the next morning (6 am, fucking freaks) and tells me basically "ah, you're the guy with the appendix. Nice to meet you, I've only seen your stomach yet"

Oh man >.< at least you are ok! welcome back

@missefficiency
Well it was only 5 days i had a drain inside me taking it out but idk. Honestly idk they wanted to make sure it drained all over it out. It was a drain inserted through my bellybutton but yeah idk. They tried to get most of it out during surgery but the drain was for left overs i'm sure. Also for the 5 days i couldn't walk or breath right or anything for the most part so i'm sure that had something to do with it too.
Thanks everyone again, appreciate it

I was in the hospital for a month once. Wasn't fun! X_X

i feel ya. insurance in the US is a fking joke. that is why i go to korea sometimes to get health care services that are just as good but much less expensive.

Thanks for the story, I really appreciate the knowledge there. I'm not sure why you thought my comment was funny? I was under a lot of stress/pressure as well. My appendix might be really fucked up at the moment and this is something I'm actually worrying about a lot.
I'm getting tested for a job later today, full blood work and everything as well. I really hope that might show if something is wrong or not.

It occured funny to me that you have exactly the thoughts which I _should_ have had, didn't mean to make fun of you. :> Go and get checked, if there's something really wrong with you they'll notice. Good luck man. :>
