After playing Deus Ex: Human Revolution and Skyrim for about 3 and 2 times respectively, I have finally gone back to Starcraft 2. And by God, have I been extremely rusty. I completely forgot what I am supposed to do during after I made a fast hatchery and my reaction time is a whole lot worse than before. But I think I have gotten the basics down once again thanks to practice.
I just got back to the NA servers and I am surprised they no longer lag as much as it did a couple of months ago. Ever since then, I have been pitted against the last thing I would ever expect when playing Starcraft 2: worker rushes. They may be annoying and sometimes a bit enraging, but it's usually my fault in the end for not having proper micro against the workers. Though it's weird that I have more luck fending off Protoss Probe rushes than I do with Terran SCVs. It's definitely out of sheer luck.

Deus Ex was pretty amazing.

As long as you aren't cutting workers at the beginning of the game (read: 6 pool) then you should just be able to beat a worker rush by a-moving with a superior force.

Yeah, but because my micro is piss poor with drones, I have a bit of difficulty countering them. Though I really should use the A key

In Bronze yeah, new players can panic and just watch their workers die, some don't even know they can attack with their workers. People have been using worker rushes in bronze to farm the win portraits since launch.
But yeah, anyone who knows how to attack move their workers will beat a worker rush every time.

Manually retreating and A-moving is the ineffective micro.

Well there's worker rushes and then there's worker rushes in 3v3. Facing 3 bases worth of workers is kinda hard with a zealot and some workers. But if you die slowly enough, your Zerg buddy can wipe them out after you and the terran die. Such an odd game.

You outnumber him and have a significant lead in dps, hp, etc. I wasn't saying you had to retreat. I was saying that since you have an advantage on him in every area, unless you somehow manage to screw up you positioning incredibly bad, you can just a move.
