So here I am, just finished my first semester in junior year of college and ready for the holidays. I was ready to play StarCraft 2 and a lot of it. I log in and i play 10-15 games of ladder when suddenly I am disconnected from Battle.net and I am informed that my account has been "Suspended for Hacking".
At first I was angry, but then I remembered that I had another sc2 account that someone had gifted to me not knowing I had already purchased a copy for myself.
I try to log in, and BAM, my second account is also banned for the same reason. I haven't even played on this account for almost a month now? http://us.battle.net/sc2/en/profile/2219214/1/Mercurial/matches The suspension of my smurf account is probably the strangest thing of all. I haven't logged on in a month and its banned the same time that my main account is banned?
Now i'm upset and I don't get to play starcraft 2 for 14 days. blahhhhhhhhh this sucks.
I submitted a ticket on both accounts and now i'm waiting for a response. What should I do for 14 days while I suffer from Starcraft 2 withdrawls?
edit: spelling
to clarify, I DID NOT HACK. and I don't think its an IP ban because my roommates share the same router that I do and both of their accounts are not banned, I just asked them to check when somebody brought it up.

Kpop, Brood War, study, exercise, and other stuff.
|
^I recommend all of that, minus the k-pop.

If indeed you were really banned illegitimately that sucks. Should try to determine the cause and see what they say. Also, wouldn't the two accounts have to be registered to 2 different e-mail addresses? If that's the case then how would they both be banned unless they were independently found to be violating the same rule? Perhaps some different mod besides hacking got them banned if indeed it's two separate bnet accounts.
|
You should call Blizzard tech support itself and this may help you resolve the situation faster
|
Yeah, that's the part I am confused about. The accounts are on two different email addresses. In my tickets I asked what specific case they found me using "unauthorized programs", because I know for other suspensions they provide you with evidence as to what TOS you have violated
|
I hope it was just a mistake and customer support can help you get your accounts back!

It seems like in the OP you pointedly avoid claiming whether or not you ever did anything that would get you flagged as hacking. You should probably clarify on this issue.

PM me if you want a 14day/7hour guest pass, I have one left over from release day

Maybe it has something to do with you IP. Any how there's always KPop. Drown yourself in it O_O.

My room-mates whom I a router with are not banned though, so I don't think it has to do with IP

I just randomly got banned as well. I sent them a appeal and my accoutn was fixed a few hours later. If only the story ended there... Anyways I chat with my friends for a while about 45mins or so and i get disconnected and my account is suspended for hacking or something again! So i sent in a reply to my ticket @ blizz support. They said they upon further review they thought that i did indeed hack or osmething. I sent in another replying saying I dont use or touch any 3rd party software. Anyways its only 14 days but the problem is I dint do anything. Im worried that once i get back my account ill get suspended again randomly and it will be for a more severe sentence.

KPop is the answer my friend :p cheers

My thoughts too...
updated OP:

But something about the timeline seems less clear:

alright, this implies you were disconnected immediately during play, after 10-15 games.
At first I was angry, but then I remembered that I had another sc2 account that someone had gifted to me not knowing I had already purchased a copy for myself.
I try to log in, and BAM, my second account is also banned for the same reason. I haven't even played on this account for almost a month now?
This is ambiguous-- you saying 'BAM' suggests it was banned sometime after you logged in, but the 'BAM' could also be read as your surprise at finding your account had been banned before you tried to log in, and you just couldn't log in.
The suspension of my smurf account is probably the strangest thing of all. I haven't logged on in a month and its banned the same time that my main account is banned?

I unno, either you're actually hacking, or someone who was using your computer was hacking and installed something or modified the client.
I think mods need to take manual action to ban someone, (could someone confirm?) I don't think their detection program actively bans accounts, but simply sends notifications so that mods can investigate and ban.
It's also altogether possible that your other account was banned earlier and you just didn't notice it.
I don't have a point, I'm just fleshing out the possibilities.

My main account was disconnected immediately during play. With the whole "Achievements have been disabled until further notice" thing.
My smurf account I find out is banned after "try[ing] to log in". I'm not sure what is ambiguous about this statement as it clearly says after I TRIED to log in, I find out it is banned

How come you 2v2 with your smurf account (Mercurial) and your main account (Brandish) on the same team?
http://us.battle.net/sc2/en/profile/2219214/1/Mercurial/ladder/
also, if you look at the main account:
http://us.battle.net/sc2/en/profile/2298192/1/BrandisH/ladder/
it shows you as playing 2v2s shortly before being banned, but that you were playing 2v2s on a team with 'mercurial', an account you say you forgot about for almost a month. No match points awarded for wins/losses though... so I'd assume any bans are related to this.
Not accusing you of anything, just looks like the things are related somehow, whether in a way you are aware of or not.

Not sure why you'd include your friends new account... don't see how its relevant. Also not sure why you're calling it 'snooping' since you linked your account in the OP and asked people to speculate why you were banned. Snooping kind of implies looking at something private without permission in an unwanted way. I'm posting in your blog to elucidate why the ban occurred, as you requested in the OP.
yeah, noticed that. But I also noticed that the 2v2s on BrandisH didn't award any points for wins/losses, but that it was only the 2v2s that aren't awarded, (3v3s and 1v1s were awarded) and that the two accounts share a 2v2 team, and both are banned.
Seems like a big coincidence.

I think so people do this with them quite often they seem to be good spirited about it i've seen on were they drew them a few character designs (really bad ones) for D3 and they had them rendered and email them back to the guy

the 2v2's today were placement matches played with some random people I met on ladder named JDMking and richardwin I played 2 with JDMking and 3 with richardwin. ah and 1 of them is my "2v2 random team"

Ah I see, makes sense--- 7 2v2s played, 1 random (4 placement matches remain for random), 3 on one team (2 remaining), 2 on another (3 remaining), and your placement match with Mercurial since you placed in bronze because it is a new season...
but wait a minute, playing a 2v2 match with mercurial in the current season in order to place into bronze would imply that your original story is not accurate, since you claim that you only logged into mercurial after your main was banned, and you found it was already banned.

Yeah, to me that is odd-- if you look at 'mercurial's profile, it only shows a 'season snapshot' for season 4, and no games played past 11/24. But if you look at BrandisH, it shows season 5 stats, including bronze with mercurial in a 2v2 team.
Besides, counting the 2v2s in Brandish match history implies that a 2v2 with Mercurial was definitely played according to the remaining placement matches.
Again, I could be off. I realize you're probably feeling attacked or something, but you know as well as I do how common this type of blog is where the OP actually ends up to be hacking.

the "leagues and ladders" page is still for season 4 how could i possibly accumulate 167 + 89 + 22 wins all in one day?

I'm not sure what is ambiguous about this statement as it clearly says after I TRIED to log in, I find out it is banned How come you 2v2 with your smurf account (Mercurial) and your main account (Brandish) on the same team? http://us.battle.net/sc2/en/profile/2219214/1/Mercurial/ladder/ before my friend bought his own account during the black friday sale I let him use my other account. heres his new account if you wish to snoop some more http://us.battle.net/sc2/en/profile/3253956/1/OfficeFork/umm also... if you check the match history of mercurial the last match played was 11/24/2011 http://us.battle.net/sc2/en/profile/2219214/1/Mercurial/matchesedit: also, if you are unaware of this, placement matches do not award or subtract points Ah I see, makes sense--- 7 2v2s played, 1 random (4 placement matches remain for random), 3 on one team (2 remaining), 2 on another (3 remaining), and your placement match with Mercurial since you placed in bronze because it is a new season... but wait a minute, playing a 2v2 match with mercurial in the current season in order to place into bronze would imply that your original story is not accurate. are you dense or something? mercurial hasn't played any games this season. i didn't play a placement match with that account. mercurial hasn't played ANY games since 11/24/2011 http://us.battle.net/sc2/en/profile/2219214/1/Mercurial/matches Yeah, to me that is odd-- if you look at 'mercurial's profile, it only shows a 'season snapshot' for season 4, and no games played past 11/24. But if you look at BrandisH, it shows season 5 stats, including bronze with mercurial in a 2v2 team. Besides, counting the 2v2s in Brandish match history implies that a 2v2 with Mercurial was definitely played according to the remaining placement matches. Definitely odd the "leagues and ladders" page is still for season 4 how could i possibly accumulate 167 + 89 + 22 wins all in one day?
That is a possibility, but still, looking at the placement matches, it doesn't show brandish as on a 2v2 team with officefork, nor does it show officefork as on a team with brandish in either the placement matches remaining, or in the current team listing.
Instead, on the brandish account, we see 7 2v2 games played in the match history, and in the placement matches, the following (http://us.battle.net/sc2/en/profile/2298192/1/BrandisH/ladder/):
2v2 random - BrandisH (4 remaining) (1played) JDMKING - BrandisH 3 remaining (2 played) BrandisH - richardwin 2 remaining (3 played)
and that is all... 7 games, placement matches remaining account for 6 of them. No other listing for 2v2 placements.
as we all know, if you have played on a 2v2 in a previous season, you only need 1 placement match to place...
on the BrandisH account, there is no other ranking displayed for any other 2v2 team... EXCEPT for with Mercurial.
Therefore, BrandisH played a game with mercurial in season 5, which just started, which on the surface appears to contradict the claim in the OP that this did not happen.
In addition, both BrandisH and mercurial are both banned, and share a 2v2 account.
I would say it is likely that the reason for the ban is here. The fact that the story seems at odds with the information suggests to me that not everything has been explained and that you're possibly aware of more than you let on, including the likely reason for the ban.
but I've been wrong before, just my thoughts.

hmmmm, yeah, I see-- well, it's definitely less clear now.
*shrugs* well I'm stumped. What I said previously could be 100% correct, or it could be a result of the weird way that leagues/ladders are displayed. There isn't an actual way to get that information from the battlenet pages. So I no longer have any good intuition about this.
Still though, the fact that both accounts are banned and share a 2v2 account is probably where the reason lies, whatever it is.
Also, sorry if you're actually being earnest and find/found me aggressive-- we all love a good puzzle, and to be honest, I don't know you so if I'm actually trying to figure this out, I need to take what you say as just another piece of it, which includes the possibility of you lying. It's not that I think you are, it's just that it needs to be considered as a possibility in order to figure the puzzle out. It's different than when you talk to someone face-to-face.
If you are being disingenuous though, you've got nerves of steel and are doing a hell of a good job of it. Most people would get pretty aggressive if they were lying by this point-- its the natural progression as the story starts to crack apart, people result to attacking the messenger and distracting attention away from the facts, and generally start to show emotion as the edifice starts to crumble. =P
EDIT: oh and...

Heh-- don't get me wrong-- I'm not saying I believe he's telling the truth. Just that I'm not 100% convinced that he isn't. If I were to put money on it, I'd say its some type of account sharing, and he possibly knows about it.
But I'm covering both possibilities. Probably cuz I'm a nice upstanding guy, but also because his story about officefork checks out-- officefork played a single 2v2 on 12/20/2011, on scorched haven, which was a loss, and BrandisH's only 2v2 loss in the current season was also on scorched haven and on 12/20/2011.

Try playing some Fire Emblem. I love that game. Blazing Sword that is. Look it up, you'll enjoy it.
If you don't want to, watch Dragon's stream or play BroodWar. Or you could complain.

start reading manga if you haven't already.

If I let him explore paths that lead nowhere that wouldn't be very helpful now would it? I was just trying to clear up any inconsistencies he felt were in my story.
it might be account sharing but wouldn't the email they sent me specifically say "account sharing"? but it says hack or unauthorized program.
What I'm trying to figure out If there is some third party program I run that isn't approved by blizzard but doesnt directly affect sc2. Thats one solution to the puzzle but that doesn't explain why an account that I haven't logged onto In a month has anything to do with it.

Well I think they were both banned because blizzard probably did an IP ban. My room-mates whom I a router with are not banned though, so I don't think it has to do with IP
lemme tell you a little about bans.
There's a number of ways to do it.
First, theres the ban by CD-key. This ban is solely on the software and its unique key.
Then theres the ban by IP address. this ban WILL stay on unless you change your IP. There's ways to change the IP unless you have a static-by-user IP system by your ISP. Many ISPs run dynamic IP because of lower overhead in all areas.
Then there's whats called a site ban. This ban is of a particular "site" of the ISP. That is, if your connection goes through a CO location like, say, Houston, and its Houston-Comcast-xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx, And this site gets banned, anyone who connects to comcast who's CO is in Houston, everyone is banned.
More invasive procedures involve actual bans based on the key of your Operating System. They can also ban based on a hash of the hardware setup of your machine, and in a more usual and less invasive manner, by your MAC, which is a specific coding on any internet connection devices like wired or wireless network cards. There's many reasons to use any of the methods, although the ones which cost the user more effort to change are hardware setups and Operating system key and number id. The MAC address can be spoofed, the number id of a machine can be changed if you know where to go and what to look for in the registry, but the hardware config can only be changed by paying money. A company that uses a combination of unique hardware setup, IP, MAC, and Product key/ID for the OS, will block you much more effectively than IP or MAC alone.
There's also the probability of a rootkit installed invisibly by a corporation along with their product to ban you that way.
However, in your case it may simply be that your software is banned, and that this is trumping using the second one. Did you uninstall SC completely, wipe any traces of it out, and install the other copy of SC on your computer (registry, any misc folders) to see if that one was banned then? because otherwise you're simply using banned software with a different CD.

A friend of mine was also unfairly banned. They must have mistakenly banned a handful of users.
|
Are you still banned? My suspension was reversed within 2 hours.
|
I actually just got banned also then after 5hours they send another email saying that ban is revoked.
|
play broodwar and listen to jpop and kpop. play an instrument. take this opportunity to sleep and go outside sometimes. meet a new friend, play with legos. the sky is the limit. just remember that when the ban expires youl turn back into a troglodyte, so use this time wisely friend

Theres apparently been a new wave of hacker bans thats been hitting innocent players and Blizzard has been revoking them. It probably hit you, too. It makes sense too because Blizzard doesn't go through hackers individually, but tries to systematically purge them by being able to detect it, and subsequently ban in waves for maximum effect.
