I just played a ZvZ and crushed him, he didn't "gg" and after the game I chatted him and said gg Then he said hes been on a losing streak and lost becuase he did stupid shit and that he didn't gg becuase he was so mad when he quit. Is anyone else like this ? I know for sure I am, even when I'm absolutely furious and someone says to "gg" to me in chat I reply with another gg and tell them to let me rage in peace ^^ That was alot of fucking ggs, holy shit o.O And another question just thrown in there; what do you do when you are mad at *insert game here* to calm down ?
Sorry if you think this post is short and doesn't serve a purpose, well, it doesn't serve a purpose, it's a blog post

Why would you message him with gg? Are you trying to provoke him to flame you or something? You should never message someone after a game with "gg", its just rude its because he's mad.
No I don't gg when I lose except on the rare occasion but I never offensive gg or message them gg after I win just mean and you shouldn't do it...
As for when I get mad at xxx game here I just go to the next game.
|
Really ? IMO it's not BM/provoking to send a gg after the game, if you do it before he leaves then I would agree with you.
|
I don't really see the big deal over people not gging. I understand to show respect blah blah. In a tournament game sure, But ladder its doesn't matter I gg sometimes but I never send someone a gg message if they just leave. I feel its more bm to offensive gg someone than to not gg at all, as blade said its just rude, and flame bait.

If he leaves without a gg
and you pm him and you say gg
that makes you the person to BM here.

I would say if you win and he doesn't GG, going after and messaging him about it is pretty BM. You know he's angry, and you saying gg just rubs it in.

The only time I message someone with a gg after the game is if
A) they gg'd and left before I could gg back B) They offensive gg and I win, or they cheese and I win.
Having said this, offensive gg is BM and I like rubbing it in their face. Cheese pisses me off but I completely understand it as a viable strat on ladder, it just feels so good holding it off.
Your post game gg doesn't fall into either of these categories. I'd just assume you were a dick if you msg'd me gg after the game (I acknowledge that I am a dick when I gg someone post game when they fail at their cheese.)

it's going to piss most people off
so if you don't want to piss people off avoid doing that

Don't get so hung up over it. We all have crappy games where we just don't feel like talking and want to be alone. I'm just surprised he didn't shoot some profanities back at you for gg'ing afterwards. (I might have done that lol)
Oh wait it's EU server where people are nice
BTW I now play on KR and in Gold, maybe 1/10 people say GG. Granted, small sample size, but most games end with him(/her? XD) leaving.

Agreed, the only time I ever do it is if they said something BM in the game... it's basically taunting your opponent.

I thought you taunt your opponents by appearing mysteriously in all their photos?

I'll never gg an opponent after they leave a game. I personally consider it bm. not terribly bm but still bm

I do this sometimes but i say "wp" instead. I of course don't mean to BM and I do find that saying "wp" isn't as offensive as "gg" cos sometimes the player will respond to me with "you too" or "wp" as well.

It is as everyone above me has agreed with me on

A) they gg'd and left before I could gg back B) They offensive gg and I win, or they cheese and I win. When I gg after the game in chat I try to offer a détente like you had really good micro/macro or next time just do this and you'll be me.
But yeah, no, undoubtedly bm to message people that left after the game saying gg. You're not doing it to be manner, you're doing it to remind them who won. Ask yourself the next time you do it why you're doing it.
edit: I also almost always graciously type well played if I gg in a chat afterwards.

Wow, if I'm really frustrated about a game I just left without GG, and the other persons messages me and says GG I don't have any problems with that.People are different I guess... And this wasn't a post to "brag" about me being BM towards the guy, it was kindof just asking if this ever happens to you.

Would you GG after someone chases you after the game to say good game? I typically wouldn't. Then again, I usually don't say "thank you" if someone says "you're welcome" per-emptively.
|
If I didn't GG because I was frustrated when I left and he GG'd me after the game I would tell him that I was just so mad/frustrated etc that GGing wasn't the first thought that came to mind before I left (IE, I would not be mad at him for GGing after the game).
Then again, I usually don't say "thank you" if someone says "you're welcome" per-emptively. Haha, that was a nice one I look at it more like a "reminder" that I should GG after every game (according to manner, that is), not as if they are GGing for me.
IMO there's a difference between aggro-gg ingame and aggro-gg after the game, just my opinion though.
|
Hmmm.. generally the loser's GG is commonly the ONLY chat in the entire game except for some 'glhf' exchange at the start for me.. I think it's a cultural difference though. Asians don't like to talk more than they need to, usually. We for sure as hell won't chat after the game like 'GG bro you forgot to say it'. When people do that to me after a game, especially one that I lost, I'm compelled to just reply very one-word answers that piss them off greatly, then wait for them to talk a whole chunk of lines then reply another one-word answer that pisses them. And those type of people are NEVER Asian.
|
Question: Why do people feel the need to type gg to someone, when he leaves without gg'ing? There's obv a reason why he didnt. He is most likely mad, but you just feel that it's very important to say gg to him? I dont get the logic.

That's the accepted consensus, but when people message me and say gg after I raged out of the game, I'm actually not angry at them. In a way they are saying that they thought I played well and they didn't win easily.

GG or no GG, does not matter on ladder.

I actually don't mind this at all, even when I didn't gg. Usually I feel bad for not gg'ing like 10 seconds after I quit, so I get the chance to say it and talk about the game when ive calmed down.

I agree with this. when people gg me after the game i just ask them why i think i want to hear it now when i left the game...
It's really annoying.
That being said, i just block communication so they don't continue telling me how bad i am or how to improve

I think it also depends on what league you're in.
I'm in platinum and I know that my games, even the ones I win, are crap; therefore, I don't feel like the game I've played has been a particularly good one. This of course has it's exceptions (e.g., if I get straight up manhandled by something other than cheese).
If someone is willing to say gg to me, though, I always try and acknowledge it.

There should be an official weekly "To GG or not to GG, that is the question" debate thread IMO.

I find it annoying that just because someone doesn't say 'gg' people assume he's angry.
:/

That's sort of my thoughts. I don't think it's inherently BM not to GG on the ladder. It's a nice gesture, but it's crazy to act like this is some sort of holy law. Obviously I think it's a very different story for pro players in tournaments however.
In fact I would rather that someone just quites instead of telling me why my race is OP while he lifts his buildings and flys around the map for 5 minutes....
|
Yeah when i'm mad I try not to BM and just leave the game.
It's really frustrating sometimes when they type GG in the chat especially when they did an all-in I couldn't scout even though I sacrificed two overlords (I'm looking at you protoss). Sometimes I BM when they do this bs but I quickly apologize in chat after.

I must be BM every single game!! /sarcasm I honestly think that some people leave due to frustration/resignation and don't remember to gg, in which case messaging them would be acceptable.

Are you serious? "Hey... Just wanted to remind you that you forgot to gg me last game in case you forgot!"

That's really BM, don't do that. Or do it, but don't tell TL that you do, and then call others BM.
