I reach 300% So i look over my shoulder and see my lead over the 100%'ers stop - and walk slowly across the finish line as my mind ponders the futility of entering a race you've already won.

Thrill, if you're entering a race you've already won, then you've obviously already done the hard part that was required to get you where you already know that you've won. The race itself is then just the "profit", the fun, the comfortable part of the two parts of your journey. @others: Let me elaborate just a little and show you how I see this in the SC2 world: You - Silver league player - have a certain goal in your head, like "I want to get to high diamond", that's the 100%. That's achieving the goal fully, no more and no less -- you're aiming for what your goal is, not for just Plat, not for Masters. Now if you aim for that goal, you'll get certain ideas that you can follow to get closer to your goal and eventually you will probably achieve it. BUT imagine what would happen if instead you were aiming to play like a Masters or Grandmasters player, which represents more than 100% -- maybe GM in this case would be something like 500%, because it's way way further on the same path that you'll be walking towards the achievement of a higher league than you currently have, it's just extrapolated. The direction is the same, the distance you're willing to go is further and thus it's a lot more likely that you won't stop at 50% or at 80% or at 98% because your brain is going to tell you "good, we still have a lot to go until we get even close to getting to 200%, so just keep going, feet, just keep going". And thanks for the 1 or 2 star ratings everyone, of course -- better than nothing I guess :p

"Train to give 200%, then when you only have to do 100% it'll only take half your effort!" The idea was that, if you might have to climb a rope while you're out doing ninja things, you should train by always climbing a whole bunch of ropes. Similarly, if you're going to have to assassinate a feudal lord, train by assassinating two feudal lords every day. Alternatively, check this out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rl4QMS0Zh_w

If you aren't doing all of it at 100% then your percents are probably wrong. What if you do more than you're suppose to, or more than people ever done, or more than what's "humanly possible". Them numbers, can't trust them I say!!
