Milkis can do whatever he wants knowing the consequences of his actions. However, that is different than us telling him what to do, because we feel like it's the right thing to do. You wouldn't know what it feels like to put years of work into something to have someone discredit it simply because it doesn't have as big a fan base, or skill gap (IN HIS OPINION) as another game. I was going to write something to try to cheer you up, and make you feel better, and realize that you should say "fuck the haters". However, after spending over two hours applying the left and right halves of my brain to work in-conjunction with one another, I realized how stupid it is to try to defend your rant. You are a very smart man. Nobody for a second doubts your intellect. You have an asset that almost nobody in the community has: you can fluently speak two languages. You also have very strong opinions on matters regarding the eSports community (since you do not acknowledge anything aside from BW as an eSport, lets just say the Starcraft community). These are all good traits and characteristics to have. Nobody is telling you to shut up, or be silenced. And if they are, they are just trolls. However, what they ARE telling you to do is to stick to your damn job. You are a salaried employee of Major League Gaming. Your job (make sure to pay close attention to the word 'job') is to translate verbatim Korean-to-English, and vice-versa; not to inject your views into the community. This does not, by any means, imply that we are denying you the right to speak your mind. This is America; you can say or do whatever the fuck you would like to do. But please, do understand, expect backlash if you make brash and aggressive statements, like you have previously made. You have to be completely senile if you are denying the presence of Counter-Strike in eSports. You realize Counter-Strike still is the only videogame ever developed in America to be broadcasted on Direct TV? Maybe you should take a step back and think about how many people used to tune in to HLTV and watch SK vs 3D back in 05 and such. It might surprise you to know that the same hype in Korea was almost developed in America over half a decade ago, except for the unveiling of another game (CS:S) that caused much controversy in our community. But I digress; lets get to the facts: you have a tremendous asset towards our eSport. We appreciate your translating, and for anybody who says otherwise, you need to learn to ignore them. Look at what Kelly and Geoff literally face on a day-to-day basis in terms of backlash; I am confident in saying that you are very loved in the community compared to others in your position. To want to quit because some of us are not in-line with your views, opinions or work practices is just nonsensical bullshit. If I go into Greenwich Village in Manhattan, and state that "Heterosexuality is the only sexuality that should be around", what do you honestly think the result would be, in terms of both verbal and physical abuse towards me? I would like to conclude my analysis on your rant by saying gamsahamida for what you have done for us, and if it's any constellation, I as a fan really did enjoy your work. You can't really fuck up an opinion unless it's racist, derogatory, etc. actually the controversial part of the opinion he posted was that he felt no other game is deserving to be called an esport and that only bw can hold that title. im sure a lot of bw fans including myself may feel that bw is one of the best esports games and has developed the best esports scene/environment thus far but i wouldnt go as far as to diss every other popular game out there and say that they do not deserve to be called an esport just because their scene may not be as well developed and culturally integrated like scbw in korea. i doubt a lot of people hold that opinion. | ||
