English on the other hand is blagh (says the electrical engineering major).
I agree. I actually had fun when I understood what I was doing. Taking the course a second time is going to be awesome, and I'm going to stay ahead. I only started thinking about proofs halfway through the course, but now I'l be learning all the intricacies and proofs I didn't pick up before.

If you need tutoring...you can ask for help on the UVic sc2 group on facebook. Almost everyone there is CSC and the guys that are on there most are beyond 1st year.

Eating cheese is "uncool"?
Sir, this is the very definition of friends and social norms that aren't worth your time. I would slap a bitch if they said it was weird I was eating cheese and crackers.

seriously some creative person needs to make one of those first world problem pics about the cheese

Weirdest brag blog of all time.

You'd throw out a block of cheese? Terrible!

I am actually coming to agree with people in this blog. I love cheese, what was I thinking? Moment of stupidity I guess.

Uhm.. I wouldn't advise taking discrete math at the same time as calc. That's actually a terrible idea. Discrete math is a difficult course with a lot of proofs. Just because the prereq is something below calculus doesn't mean you can take it.
I'd suggest taking it concurrently or AFTER ( after is better) linear algebra and if you want to make sure you do well take it after a logic design class. That way you'll have a decent grasp on proofs from linear algebra and a decent grasp on boolean algebra from logic design.
To be honest, the hardest part about that class are the combinatorics problems, which your book will probably list as "counting" problems. Other than that it's mostly rudimentary proof stuff.
Best of luck to you.

Thanks for the advice. I really agree it felt like there should have been some additional prerequisites. I'l make sure to read up/get tutoring on the counting problems so I am prepared.
According to this page: http://web.uvic.ca/calendar2011/FACS/FoEn/DoCoS/PrRe.html I don't have any linear algebra for a while, and there are no logic design courses until year 3.
http://web.uvic.ca/calendar2011/FACS/FoEn/DoCoS/CPinCSaMaCS.html The combined math and computer science major is like that too.

People generally do not eat normal food outside the cafeteria. Maybe it is just me being a bit socially awkward lol. What is so damn awkward about being in a room where nobody can see you? Did I fucking miss something in my first year?
