Hey guys,
I was just curious about something.
I've seen many videos of team houses and the keyboards players use and everything.
Is there a reason why most of them use quieter keyboards? (either membrane or black switch mech)
I was wondering if they had to due to noise for players around them or if it just happens to be that way.
Sorry for the semi-retarded question and thanks for the reply!

I mean, what did you expect them to be using?
Most gaming keyboards are membrane... and anyone who cares about mechs usually want blues or blacks for gaming... so...

your stupid. No pro Gamer would be caught dead without a mechanical keyboard. You would break your fingers in only 4 hours of gaming while you can game all day with mechanical switches.
and they'd use their sponsors gear. The switches are oddly company based as Razer tends to use blue swithches I belive and SS blacks. They would use their companys best so razer folk would use the BW ultimates and the SS folks either a 7G or a 6gv2

LOL. tell that to every BW progamer that has been using keyboards like the Dt-35 for the past ten years. Considering bw is a lot more mechanically intense, I think it is you, who has no idea what the fuck you are talking about.

The QSENN DT35 is a membrane keyboard that's well known for being used by dozens of BW pros (and some SC2 pros as well).
You can game all day on membrane keyboards quite easily.

A lot of the pros in Korean team houses use QSenn DT-35. For example, I'm pretty sure MKP does, Julyzerg and Losira do for sure as well. If you feel membrane keyboards are inferior, try to voice your opinion in a professional and according manner instead of throwing out names when trying to put your argument on the table.
A lot of Korean pros use Membrane keyboards, specifically QSenn DT-35. A lot of the Foreigners use mechanical keyboards. You use what keyboard suits you, and what keyboard you're comfortable with. I don't think anyone will hate on you in a team house if you use a mechanical keyboard.

Well, the big problem some people have with membrane keyboards (aside from the shoddy construction of many of them) is that it's hard to tell when you have actually managed to complete the circuit and can lift your finger. Some switches in mechanical keyboards have tactile feel built in so you know when the contact has been made, and when it breaks, allowing you t be sure you've hit the key without actually bottoming out, making it faster to repeat keystrokes (and I think some people say it's easier on your fingers when you don't always bottom out).
The actuation force might be a bit higher for mechanical keyboards, but even with the hardest keys, it's not so high that it would cause any sort of injuries after sustained use, it just takes some getting used to.

Need a good keyboard then, for me I can a USB laptop esque one and I can easily tell when the circuit has been completed because it bottoms out really fast.

Startale uses ZOWIE. I know a lot of gamers don't use mechanical keyboards... watch all the house tour videos.

Well at least foreigner players usually don't use blues/blacks, browns are the most popular switches, probably follwoed by black since thats what all the steelseries gear is, and then blues for the razer blackwidow i think it is, but even that comes in browns.
