Ladder Frustrations

So, had a pretty good night on ladder last night, went 2:1 against fairly standard opponents.

Tonight? Nothing but ridiculous builds that totally break my will to play.

5rax reaper scout denied+ Show Spoiler +

ZvZ (don't really need to say more here)+ Show Spoiler +

Thor/Banshee/Hellion with pulled SCVs repairing push+ Show Spoiler +

Even the games I win are so horrible they just make me want to throw my monitor at a wall.

The one game of the evening that was a standard non-ZvZ match was just so easy it still wasn't any fun.

Virtually any cheese is preventable with proper reaction. People tend to blame others for "cheesy" play when in reality those cheesers are taking a risk that locks them in. Its up to you to scout it and properly respond. Focus on what you can change, tomorrow will be a better day. Goodluck out there.

Eh, I play to get better, and it's hard to really learn anything from cheese play other than, "oh, look, he hid something over THERE this time. Guess that's one more place I gotta make sure I get vision of..."

I feel like my time has been wasted.

more people on ladder care about an arbitrary rating than they do legitimate practice, thats just how it is. if you are going to play ladder, do it knowing full well that the guy you are playing cares much more about winning by whatever means neccessary above all else. its pretty easy to see this when you still have people using exploits like the 3 pylon block (which isn't even possible in any credible tournament setting) to take wins. yeah, its frustrating, but its not going to change any time soon.

the best method if you must use ladder is to wait until you get those awesome games or until you play someone that you recognize has talent and message them after for practice games. however, for straight practice actually having people to work through builds and trouble spots with is going to be far more beneficial then grinding games on ladder.
