If you haven't seen the OSL semi finals and don't want to get spoiled, don't read on.
So after being inspired last night after Jangbi bested Soo in incredible fashion, i remembered that I'd made a promise to a) make a hype video if Jangbi made the finals and b) become a samsung fan if he wins.
So fullfilling the first part of my obligation i present to you my second attempt as using video edited software. For my first attempt you can click here to see my "how not to play starcraft" video i made ages ago.
Anyhow, as it was my first real attempt at doing something like this it looks really amatuer. I tried my best to capture Jangbi's run through the OSL from the RO36 to the finals in the space of a 3 minute song, so it was fairly hard and i had to cut a bunch of games. I hope it worked out ok anyway tho. So without further adieu i present my Jangbi OSL Hype video.
Jangbi Fighting!
ps: any helpful criticism(i'm sure there's HEAPS) or suggestions (editing software? i had some problems with vegas 8.0) would be awesome.

Good hype video, but not as good as that "how not to play starcraft" video. I could tell it was coming the moment the vulture laid mines in the mineral line, but i still burst out laughing.
The osl Ro4 this morning (for me) is the first broodwar ive watched in a while and ive kinda lost track of the scene but i became a huge fan of jangi, his style in play and that grin/fistpump just won me over, jangbi fighting!
Nice work, I liked it. Since you are showing his games in chronological order anyway, I would somehow try to show that better. There might be a cool way to do it with his opponent's TLPD pictures, and then crossing them out one by one as he beats them, but it should at least have a "RoX vs _____" at the beginning.

haha yeah same. normally i'd be fantasy biased but watching jangbi win last night was just so hype. i haven't slept XD

Thats whats so great about esports. it doesn't matter if the game changes or not theres always something interesting to pull you back in ^_^

Fuck thats a really good idea. I think i probably should've made it a bit longer but i was fairly set on the song and didn't want to add another. also i played the flash games out of order and cut a few. maybe after he wins i'll have another shot :O
OMG, JangBi has become one of my favorite players through this OSL. I had so much emotion watching the semi-finals today and at the end I almost cried from happiness. This video brought that emotion back where it showed the road JangBi had to take to come to the fucking OSL FINALS! A single protoss hope in Ro8, doing the impossible of beating Flash 2-1 from being down 0-1, and then beating Soo on Zerg favored maps in semi-finals. He just deserves to win this OSL so much.
I'll be cheering him in the finals like I've never cheered before, and if he loses I'll be sad for many weeks afterwards. After getting silver two times, I think it's time he finally gets a gold.

I was trying to stick with the whole broodwar proleague/osl/msl theme (using a song that was been played in many of the leagues before). Would you prefer something like trance? or classical? i could see classical working well. i chose the song because it had really clear transitions (ie: i had to sync flash getting stormed with the climax after that buildup in the middle. hence why i played his games out of order)

Move "Live to Win." I'd love to see the song used in an entirely non-ironic fashion.

Sad day. I do agree about breaking it up a bit by adding titles for the games, and i was going to say as such, but i was just too blown away by the other video to notice. I'd stick with the theme of music that's been played in pro games, but maybe not play the same song for the whole video. Check out some of the year highlight videos that always come out of Korea. I think xsebt has the 08-09 one on his livestream, and it's fantastic.
Yeah i think ideally you'd have one song per series, so you end up with 4-5 songs, goes for about 6 minutes or so kinda thing and just cut the songs when u get the highlights out of the way

I wasn't saying adding to the length. I was saying put a small picture of calm in the bottom left, then cross it out when he losses. Then fade in a picture of baby next to the crossed out calm picture, and cross it out when he losses.

Hahah man if you can redo it like this it'll like so bad ass! I liked your video Kiante, I saw nothing wrong with it but of course there is room to include more ^^ <3333
yeah. adding the constraint of trying to make it through his specific journey instead of making it a more general highlight package then keeping it to one song made it hard to sync things. the only thing i moved specifically to sync was the epic storms on flash's tanks
I don't really remember my opinion of jangbi when he had his first go arounds as a dragon and as a silver medalist. I knew he was good, and probably liked him some, but it was before I was trying to watch starcraft live all the time (just watched the vods). Watched very game, but kinda just skimming through vods.
Now I've been following bw much more heavily (and live most of the time) for about a year, jangbi's run in this osl is probably going to be one of the most memorable for me, particularly the crowd at the semis. Its been a little bit since I could remember hearing the crowd over the stream throughout an entire game (people cheered for things like the first scouting probe making a good turn lol. Every storm had a cheer it seemed, etc).
Jangbi is back. His play is exciting. He is what was needed for bw right now--with regards to flash, he had the balls to go in and attack. Compare this to best, who sat around trying to max up an army himself. Whereas a lot of zvps have been hydra busts recently, jangbi goes for a fast legs updgrade without sairs to attack the zerg's third. He's ballsy, he's brave, he's jangbanging this osl.
Watching this highlight video I forgot he had played baby--I would have liquibetted baby. In fact I probably thought baby would have been a better player to watch in the tournament. Man was I wrong. I've never really felt a fandom like this for a player since when I cheered for my terran crush fantasy in his first osl runs. I always watched games mainly for the game itself, not necessarily for the player. Instead count me in as a now confirmed jangbi fan for life. Well, a bit behind my first love <3
Shame that fantasy has to end it, but hopefully finals will be epic.
Jangbi is the people's champion! We could hear it in the cheering during his match and it's echoed throughout everyone's comments on Teamliquid. I lost interest in Jangbi when he started losing all the time, but he's been showing creative and dynamic play all OSL and you can bet I'm going to be cheering my heart out for Jangbi in the finals.
Thanks for the video, Kiante, it was really awesome and makes me even more excited!!
Well I wouldn't call it so much a hype video, rather more of a recap video, but it was good nevertheless. You also managed to capture in a pretty good way the only reason I like JangBi- his godly use of storms.
Video is nice, but the music is gay as fuck. Never understood this kinda college rock stuff being put under so many videos. Like alffla said, use some power metal

It's on the 17th (Saturday) That was a great video, nice work. How long did it take to make? I have to admit though that whenever I hear that song all I think about is Reach haha 5 stars

took me like umm ~5 hours i guess? that includes downloading the games (can only download 2 at a time with download helper @100kb/s ) watching them, choosing which ones i was using, going through the prelim videos then realising i didn't have room for them, storyboarding, working out how to use vegas and then finally throwing it together, realising i didn't have background audio from the games and putting it together again, doing a bit of testing then releasing because i'm impatient ^_^
for people talking about the music: i used its a proleague song, not because i particuarly like that style (i'm an ex-metalhead). ^_^
also: my version of vegas had literally 0 video effects made me sad

wow 5 hours, no doubt this experience will make your next video making experience a little smoother (in terms of planning anyway I hope :D). If Jangbi should win I hope you make another awesome highlight vid of JB's journey to gold
Yeah lol, i assume if i'd downloaded the games ahead of time and knew how to use the software(encoding was a problem too) it would've been a really speedy operation, where the main challenges would be creative rather than technical ^_^
Excellent hype video Kiante! Not my kind of music but it is very fitting. I also liked that you kept the original audio so that you can hear the fans go crazy over Janbi storms.
