Most horror movies nowadays are not horror at all though. They are like shocker movies, with a sudden loud noise and face on screen. No fear that is building up, no feeling of desperation and anxiety just lame shockers. Amnesia, although a game, was thankfully the opposite. | ||

I mean seriously, I couldn't even watch the TRAILERS for a scary movie or I wouldn't sleep that night. Even flushing the fucking toilet scared the shit outa me and I would RUN out of the bathroom after I flushed. Kids get scared by stupid shit and then you grow up and you laugh at your stupid younger self. | ||

My cat runs away as hard and fast as he can when a toilet flushes. lmao. At the OP: try watching them on small screen laptops in sunlit rooms without headphones. One of my younger cousins went though a patch of total social anxiety because all the cool girls in her highschool were in to watching scary movies and she couldn't take them. Her parents helped her get over it by watching the movies in conditions that were as disengaged as possible. Once you actually see the "scary" scenes out of context you'll find them quite silly. In most cases your imagination is far better than what filmmakers are capable of. | ||

(my opinion btw) A horror movie is a movie that legitimately scares you in part of your real life. for example, Jaws scared millions of people from swimming in the ocean. A nowadays horror movie is (usually) something that has atmospheric music and a loud bang mixed with a scary picture or something like that, for example final destination. If you can try to realize that what your afraid of is the movie itself instead of any part of your life its pretty easy to watch them and laugh. Unless your squirmy and dislike gore and stuff. | ||
