You may ask, how am I Flash?

Background: Went to some suburb (Dickson in Canberra if anyone cares), my friend said the place had Asian shops/restaurants. During the night, went into some random one, looked for the big 1 litre bottles of Pocari Sweat to no avail, so I just took 10 bottles of the 500ml ones. The lady looked at me weirdly. She then suggested a box of them. Good thinking, girl. They went to the back and got one for me.

Took a box and bought it, my friends were facepalming at me, but I don't care, I just got myself the fuel of god. All up, 20 bottles for $38 AUD. Not bad.

On a side note, I saw an 'entertainment' store, but it looked like it was mostly Taiwan/Chinese crap so I didn't think they'd have Korean posters so I just walked by :3

Now for the boring part! I might as well blog about my weekend up in the capital city. Many of you may not know but I live in a city that is pretty far from the major centres of Australia (about 3/4/6 hours drive to Melbourne/Canberra/Sydney respectively). I went up to the capital with two of my friends to see Australian National Universities Open Day, as they were going to be attending next year. As for myself, I'll be going somewhere else (Sydney), but I'll most likely be transferring to this university after my first year, as the one I'm going to next year doesn't offer a Korean major (and is located in a pretty poor location relatively).

Anyway, we got up at 4:30am, luckily for me, I managed to turn off my phone alarm before this song started to blast out. Would have been funny if it did. We started to make our journey to the capital at around 5am.

Not really much to talk about, although at one point, we we're panicking because we stopped for a toilet break, only to be lost because the exit we thought there was, said One Way. We drove up a bit further and saw another road that lead us back to the highway. Silly moment from us.

I'll just put these two pictures up I decided to randomly take, one of the sun, one of the fog. Exciting, eh?

We got to the university at around 9:30am. Not really much to say about the open day, except it left a really, damn good impression on me how well the facilities were, but I suppose you get that from one of the top schools in the country (in fact, this was my first preference to get in to, but I didn't get the marks in my final exams and wasn't accepted, thus the year somewhere else). Oh, and er, there were lots of qt girls, although most of them were Chinese :<.

After the open day finished, we went to our hotel room, which was only just a couple of blocks away. After falling half asleep during Spy Kids 3 (what a god awful movie that is), Sucker Punch came on next, and reinvigorated my energy. Then we decided to go out for dinner.

Since the only Korean restaurant was full (=[), and the two Japanese restaurants were also full, we just decided to go into some random Chinese restaurant. While I was disappointed I wouldn't be having any soju (? do they have that in Aus) or sake, I chowed down on some roast duck with rice. All I can say is, cheap prices, large portions, lazy cooking. I expected that though, so I can't really complain.

After dinner, I got my Pocari Sweat (as mentioned above), then we went back to the hotel and crashed for the night.

In the morning, after having a buffet breakfast, we went into the city centre, just to see the shops and shizz. I got myself screen protectors for my new phone, and a PSN card for my PS3. What I really wanted to do was go to an arcade, and a friend (who studies in Canberra and was showing myself and my friends around) took me to this place (Capital Funland Amusements for those who know what I'm talking about).

While I was disappointed (but not surprised) the SF4 machine was not AE, I did find a DJMAX Technika machine. I love the songs released for the game, so I naturally couldn't wait to get on it and play. Needless to say, I sucked pretty badly, but it was my first time so I wasn't surprised.

My friends also played DDR. I am uploading a video right now if anyone cares so you can laugh at them.

After that, we browsed random stores (cheap books and comics), got lunch, then bid farewell to our friend and made our way home, where for some reason, was really constructive (lots of insightful talk).

To be honest, I seriously can't wait until 2013 (or even half way through 2012 maybe), where I'll most likely transfer to ANU to complete my university studies. While I still have to check out UNSW/USYD first, I just love how everything is so close to each other in Canberra (unlike Sydney, where everything is spread), and how on a Sunday afternoon, the central district was much like Albury (where I'm from), very quiet and not packed.

Anyway, if anyone has any questions that aren't trolls, feel free to ask and I'll try my best... but, I guess this is my first legit blog in quite some time.

Ironically, if I remember correctly, mizu is the Japanese word for water.

Anyways I have a question, what the hell is that stuff/what does it taste like? They had it everywhere I went in Japan, and I went from one side of the country to the other.... but I never tried it because it was hot and I didn't want anything with possible caffeine that could make me more dehydrated.

most people say water-flavored gatorade. i'd say more like uncarbonated lemonade.

I think it tastes more like the lemon flavored gatorade, but its still fine when i'm in asia and there is no gatorade for some reason( they have a lot in Hong Kong, cant find any in korea and japan).

I was considering going to ANU when i left school (i went to the national youth science forum that was hosted there in grade 11) but i ended up choosing to go to UQ. Aren't you worried about the town being...boring? canberra just seems really dead to me.

also roundabouts.

that being said ANU is arguably the best uni in the country, so why compromise :O

I looked around the entire Chicago area, only finding it in out-of-the-way Asian supermarkets. Then I found out they sold bottles at a little Japanese restaurant on the street adjacent to my apartment. I had about 30 over the summer.

Nice blog but you sound like a Korean fetishist/stalker.

Dude, you have no idea.

Also, love getting that box of Pocari, just take one bottle at a time when gaming or else you'll OD. :p

nah, it seems all of my 'social' shit can be done within campus (seems theres enough people).

at above, i'm going to uws in bankstown. my problem is that i'm going somewhere i've never been before, and i won't know anyone at all. not to mention, it's way west of the cbd. i don't have my own car. i'm lazy and still on my l's. but with the fear of being stabbed, i'll try and grind my hours over next four months.

i semi-regret flunking my hsc now, as i really wanted to immediately enter anu/unsw/usyd, but... i'll cope.
