UPDATE: It's here! Fall TV is back!
Making changes as I watch the new shows. I'm so excited and so glad I got my work done. I also need to send a shout-out to one of my favourite shows from last year...

If you ever thought you were above Masterpiece Theater, you'd be dead wrong. Downton Abbey chronicles the lives of the fictional Earl of Grantham, his family, and their service staff, as they deal with the changing times of the 1910's and their own personal intrigue. The story is centered around the Earl of Grantham's struggle to find an heir after his son dies on the Titanic. Believe it or not, it all gets worse from then on in, and every minute of it is worth watching. The original British series is ~8 episodes long while Masterpiece Theater re-cut it into 4. Definitely worth a look into, since it did win 4 Emmys last night including Best Drama, Best Writing in a Drama Series, Best Director, and Best Supporting Actress (Maggie Smith). Yes, Maggie Smith is in it, and she's awesome.

Series 2 premiered on Sunday September 18th and I just watched it. Holy shit man, drama. All I can say is: Lord Grantham is going to FLIP HIS SHIT next episode, and the new girl is a BIIIIIIIITCH, but I think she'll warm up. Matthew continues to be as awesome as ever.ORIGINAL POST: September is on our doorstep, and that means that we are only weeks away from the next TV season. Primetime network TV has been a little lacking in the last few years, but there are always a few shows potentially worth watching. Here's what I'm anticipating for this upcoming TV season.
Yes folks, America's most reviled not-really-a-TV-family is back! Rob McElhenney and Glen Howerton's spiritual successor to great comedy series such as Cheers, Seinfeld, and Arrested Development, will be making its potentially final season premiere on September 15th on FX. I don't get FX, but that hasn't stopped me from watching. If you have never watched this show, you must get caught up. I compare it to those other shows for a reason: it's that good. I'm especially anticipating the coming of Fat Mac; Rob McElhenney gained 50 lbs. for the filming of this season, "because he thought it would be funny."

And oh my God is it! Watched the first episode yesterday and it was absolutely hilarious. PLEASE watch it.Nathan Fillion's witty, crime-solving, all-around awesome novelist Richard Castle is back on TV on September 19th. Last season ended with a very dramatic turn of events, although I'm anticipating the status quo will be restored sometime soon. Stana Katic's character is a perfect match for Castle on screen. Their chemistry is pretty much what makes the show, on top of, you know, the crime drama.
How the hell could I not mention Community? This is the best written show on television right now, with an all-star cast that I'm sure you are by-now familiar with. It premieres on September 22rd. There is no telling where the next season is going to go, although I personally hope to see Annie and Jeff hook up. I'm a major Alison Brie fan, although I'm also in love with this next girl...
I probably only need to describe this show in one way; a sitcom starring perpetual moe-blob Zooey Deschanel. I'm leery about how this show will turn out, but in all honesty I'm not going to not watch a show starring perpetual moe-blob Zooey Deschanel. In an interview with critics about the show, someone asked her, "when did you first realize you were adorable?" It premieres on Fox on September 20th. I mean, just look at her.
I can't really think of any other shows that I'm particularly excited about. Skins Series 6 and Top Gear are still almost half a year away (January 2012), but I've got my plate full until then. Let me know what you think, and if you have any other shows that caught your eye coming up, share it with me! I like just about anything.
Shit! I forgot to mention so many (thanks to the responses for reminding me):
- The Big Bang Theory (September 22rd)
- How I Met Your Mother (September 20th)
- 30 Rock (September 22rd)
